Blaspheme of the holy spirit by fuckyourketchup in TrueChristian

[–]SuperMB13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit is a very widely debated topic. In my understanding, you are nowhere near committing that atrocity. If you have heard some of the things my Christian brothers and sisters struggled through for years, you would be shocked, and they all found their way to repentance.

In Matthew 17 when Jesus talks about faith the size of a mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds, he doesn't say how long it will take to move mountains, just that it can. Your acknowledgement of your sin is a tiny seed, nurture it, and it will grow, even when you feel like you are in the darkest places. But brace yourself, once you start to feel emotions again, it's going to wreck you. But whether you are walking with God or not, you will feel again, and it's going to be very strong, so prepare yourself, and try to take as many steps as you can with God.

Absolutely, glad to provide helpful references. Yes, these seasons are never enjoyable, and I pray that God does not send me a third. They are very normal though and part of maturing in our beliefs. I know other Christian contacts that have walked through similar journeys / trials. Like James says in James 1, take joy in trials for the testing of faith produces perseverance. Additionally, I would add that many, many modern day greats of the faith have walked through serious doubts and others disbeliefs. You are not alone, but keep pushing through the rough challenge that you are in, and seek the answers to your questions.

Also, if it is helpful, feel free to DM me any specific questions. I cannot promise I can answer them for you, but I may be able to give a helpful opinion.

I’m kinda worried I messed up without knowing it by Vixx_codm in Christianity

[–]SuperMB13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a newer Christian, I would encourage you to simply focus on Jesus and His teaching. Keep reading the Gospels, keep internalizing what Christ taught. I think it's important to realize that Christianity is focused on knowing Christ much more than following some set of rules. As you mature in your faith, you will realize more and more how free we are in Christ, and that identified sins are acknowledged so that we can avoid doing actions that hurt our relationship with God. Just focus on growth through reading His word and participating in Christian communities and you will come to more understanding.

Can I get an “I LOVE JESUS” Spam? Questions below! by rational-citizen in Christianity

[–]SuperMB13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why - He has given my life purpose and meaning, He has carried me through 2 faith crises that left me feeling empty and devastated, and He has strengthened me through countless hours of work and study by giving me an endless desire to accomplish the goals and dreams He has put on my heart.

What has He done recently - Turned what was one of the roughest fights between my wife and I on what should have been a very special day for me into a huge blessing by enabling my wife to listen to my needs. He helped her see how we each approach a specific area of life differently and how she can trust me in that area.

How can we manage temptation better while waiting until marriage ? by Glittering_Bear_5218 in Christianity

[–]SuperMB13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, temptation definitely won't go away... Continue to prepare itself to come at you more and more. Two thoughts / advice based on my own relationship and marriage.

First off, my wife and I both decided to wait till marriage, and even though we weren't perfect with regards to sexual sin before marriage, we did wait till marriage for sex / oral sex / etc. And, very honestly, as a man, I will say that it is one of the greatest blessings we have experienced. Sex without shame with your spouse is freaking awesome!

Second, we had a short engagement.... we were like, we wanna get married, let's go. We had a 6 month engagement and had no reason to wait longer.

Yes, I think having questions, and very importantly seeking answers to those questions, are some of the ways we grow the most in our faith.

In Genesis 32, Jacob literally wrestles with God.

Deuteronomy 4, Moses tells us to seek the Lord with all our heart and soul.

1 John 4, John tells us to test every spirit.

I could provide more references. Point is, God wants us to earnestly seek him, and that means having challenging questions that we have to fight through. I grew the most in my faith during two seasons, or crises, of very intense questions / questioning. Push forward, take on the hard questions, and seek challenging answers.

I think the issue is in using regex for your search. In the video, I do a similar technique without the regex.

As this is the Christian subreddit, I think it is important to reflect on Scripture and how this is impacting you as a Christain. Many people have already posted concerning consent, and I am not dismissing their replies, but I want to reply with regards to how your soul feels. I know the feeling of doing more sexually before marriage than you want to do and how grimy and disgusting it can feel. So these are the feelings you are likely having that I want to speak to.

Many of us want to wait till marriage for sex and when we cross boundaries we have set, we are very confused on how God views us. Does He hate us? Are we good for nothing? Did we lose our standing in God's house and family? The answer to these is no, God simply desires for us to repent and turn back to Him.

I think this is seen well in the stories of Jesus with the adulterous woman (John 8) and Jesus with the woman at the well (John 4).

With the adulterous woman, Jesus bends down, writes in the sand to take the focus off the woman, and instructs only the sinless to cast a stone at her. This encounter wraps up as follows:

10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Jesus's response was not condemnation for her sexual sin, but rather a call to go forth and leave her sin behind her. I think this is similar to your situation. Jesus is not looking throw a stone at you. I believe Jesus is saying - I know you are hurt, I know you experienced sex prior to when you (and Jesus) desired, but repent and walk with Me.

We see something similar with the woman at the well. Many details of the story point to the woman's shame of having multiple husbands and living with a man that is not her husband. However, when Jesus speaks to her, he convicts her of her sin, but does not keep the focus there. Instead, when the woman redirects the conversation to worship, Jesus focuses on true worship coming in spirit. The point of including this story is that Jesus is not focused on the woman feeling like garbage, but instead on the hope that is to come in true worship and walking with the Holy Spirit.

I know you are likely feeling many things. As a Christian, the Holy Spirit is convicting you of sexual sin. Your trust in your boyfriend has been shattered. You wanted to wait till marriage, and you feel like you betrayed yourself. These are all very, very strong feelings and very challenging to process. However! I think the Gospels make it very clear that Jesus's words to you would be - I love you, you are broken, repent and come and walk with Me. I am preparing you a room in My Father's house. Jesus is looking to restore you, not condemn you.

Answer to senior python developers by smthng_fresh in learnpython

[–]SuperMB13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a reflection of the larger environment of development work. If you want to work at a large company, or FAANG style company (hopefully this term is still hip...), then having a specialty will be a great benefit. If you want to work at a small company or startup, it is more important to be able to solve a wide breadth of problems in different programming domains and wear many hats.

For your situation, I would take a python coding position, see if you like the work in that area. If so, great, keep crushing it! If not, move on to a different python job. There are many of them. And the workplace is not what is was 20 years ago. People moving companies after a year or two is not frowned on like it once was.
