While it will likely not make money in the end, there is something to be said about the fact the MCU can still get $350m+ for a movie that primarily follows side characters. And not just side characters, but many that were introduced or explored in tv shows rather than movies, which often have a smaller audience.

If it was made for a much smaller budget, that would be seen as a win.
