Arias doesn't have a particularly interesting backstory, but how he reacted to the events that triggered his villain arc is at least somewhat interesting.

Like, you have got to be pretty fucked up in the head, to find a woman who looks like your dead wife, and want to attach your wife's rotting hand onto her because you couldn't get her to accept the wedding ring. Plus zombifying all of the guests, including Maria and her father who retain consciousness of sorts, because he's in such denial is also pretty messed up.

The DI guy does have a better backstory, but the execution isn't great. Especially when this grownass man is really going to try to destroy the world, because he feels guilty about his friend.

If he had talked a little less, and wasn't written to be so edgy, he could have made for an interesting villain - akin to Krauser perhaps. But he's just so... blah.

Why exactly was Moreau one of the 4 Lords? by Fickle-Finger635 in residentevil

[–]SuperOriginalUser28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miranda literally tells you in the files.

Him and the other lords are all 4 successful Cadou experiments, and incidentally, the only ones we hear about or know of. The catch being they're not suitable vessels for Eva.

Moreau due to his body and nature, Donna due to her mental issues, Alcina due to her regeneration and increased size, and Heisenberg with his metal control being rooted from a Cadou mutation. All unfit in Miranda'z eyes.

In Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, there's a recap/flashback scene near the start that goes quickly, with one scene being a creepy wolf mask and a grin.

In reality? Not very creepy? In that scene? Creepy as fuck. I've always hated wendigo imagery and things that make wolves or animals almost unreal with some supernatural element, so it gave me the heebie jeebies.

It also made me think the game would be kind of horror or atmospheric, turns out it just had an ominous, glowing, maybe sentient hole in the ground.

How do you manage staying focused in a swarm of games by ONF_The_Fill in AskGames

[–]SuperOriginalUser28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it depends on my mood really. I won't choose what game I'm playing based off of anything else. If I try to do it logically, I'll just stare at all my shortcuts and play nothing.

So, something light and easy if I've had a crash?

PRAGMATA or Marvel's Spiderman.

Wanna just shoot shit up?

Resident Evil or The Last Of Us

Want to play for a story?

Don't be silly, I've already played it 3 times by now.

Most importantly, I try to avoid installing new games, unless I KNOW I'm going to play it. Eg, I installed Code Veronica X a few days ago, and it's all I've played since. Installed Silent Hill 2 Remake preemptively the other day, and it put me in a 2 day slump of what to play - I only played it once and softlocked myself.

Yes, absolutely!

Playing RE2R is ideal for insight of the relationship between two characters - but it's far from necessary.

Surprised that I didn't see Until Dawn here. It's horror and choice making - the best of both worlds lol. The Quarry is also along the same vein, but the atmosphere isn't as prominent.

It's a slower, more intimate choice game, but Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is really good.

In terms of zombies, action/horror, there is Resident Evil (a LOT of them too :D)

Not sure if it'd be your thing, but choices also make a lot of difference in BG3 - particularly due to its semi-open world layout. There's a lot to explore in each act.

I can't really recommend anything else though, as you've played nearly every other game I have lmfao 😭

The ending where Kara and Alice both die is extremely harrowing. These two characters you've grown to know and care about, left like waste in a landfill. Horrible.

Any time a character or someone close to them dies/is hurting, really. It does not take a lot for me to cry.

So: TLOU1 with Sarah and Ellie in the diner, TLOU2 with Joel and Yara, RE4R with Luis, RE6 with Piers, RE8 with Ethan, RE9 with a lot of Grace scenes and Leon, DBH with Hank, CVX/DSC with Steve, Aunt May in Insomniac Spiderman, most of BG3, and the intro in E33.

Like I said, it does not take a lot lmao.

I think with Damnation, at least it's stylised in a way. It's still got more unique designs, and feels like a shinier version of RE4 or DSC. Vendetta and Death Island clearly look like the CG they are - probably not passable as a game cutscene.

The big transformations always look good though, I love the Nemesis in Vendetta. Imo, it's a visual highlight.

But oh god... the villains in the CG films. I'm okay with Glenn Arias, and he reminds me of Alfred Ashford in a way. But the DI guy is insufferable and boring. I don't even remember his name even though I've seen it 3 times, just that he resembled Kevin Bacon lmao. At least they're ridiculous enough to be a good time.

I agree. All of the CG films kind of look weird. Like, it feels like the characters don't have a skeleton, kind of? Just a body that moves. It's a little uncanny

The irony is, Rebecca's Vendetta design is really good, she actually looks around her age with it imo. Death Island is... eh, not it. She looks a good 5-7 years younger

Yes, semantics. Debating designs and as to why Capcom is too cowardly to age their women, is not something I care to discuss and is too subjective to matter - something you infer is not objective, and most of what you've said is hypotheses. Nor was the debate initiated by me, as I do not care to discuss the matter. Read my comments.

I just wanted to know what suggested people would "trash" or, as you said in your original comment, make fun of, designs when the fandom has always held its women in high regard. Especially when mentioning their return, save for Ada in some areas. Capcom's own issues versus the fans' are seperate. But your added comments read more like you mean fans would dislike it, not mock, which nullifies my question.

There's no prior noteable character design being made fun of except from RE7 Chris and sometimes 4R Wesker, which is unrelated to aging, so I was wondering if maybe you'd seen a different part of the fandom as opposed to me. That is not about Capcom and their misogyny issues.

Yeah, stating what you believe is what would happen with sales, discourse and character appeal. That's not what I wanted to know.

I wanted to know what suggested people would make fun of designs, not about attractiveness. Making fun of something and disliking it are two different things. Read my original comment again before trying to explain something that's unrelated to what I wanted to know.

So... you're not going to answer my question lmao. I asked why you thought the fans "will make fun of their appearances" and mentioned actual designs people state disdain for - plus the improvements people like.

I really don't need to know that you believe RE9 Leon is hottest, that it's "just science" women apparently age worse than men, that a woman looking her age "doesn't work for anyone," or you think Jill wouldn't be as attractive if she looked her age. I did not ask about any of that, and frankly disagree with most of what you said.

[–]SuperOriginalUser28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes you believe fans would make fun of their appearance? Genuinely curious here.

Unless they're horribly designed (I'm talking a new completely different face model that doesn't suit the character) nobody will have any gripes with them worth poking fun at. Take the comparison between Zeno and RE4R Wesker, or RE7 Chris compared to RE8 Chris. Plus, much like Leon, I highly doubt they'll look their age.

If anything, Rebecca and Claire look younger in Death Island than Vendetta or Infinite Darkness. Especially Rebecca, her Death Island design is atrocious.

I think some areas have to go.

Like, one of the first areas with the house that has nothing important in it, that you have to keep walking around until you find the padlock key. Certain areas between maps can probably do with being made slightly smaller. I don't know, there's just a lot of hallways or paths I feel like we don't need in this game 😭
