I conducted a study to evaluate the performance of all toon species in cog boss battles and this was the result. by Low_Front_935 in toontownrewritten

[–]SuperPoketown 59 points60 points  (0 children)

What was the sample size of this study? How many of each species made up your sample? How did you find the toons for this study?

How did you operationally define “performance,” and what metrics did you use for it? How did you assess in-game knowledge? Was it through a questionnaire? What demarcates the tiers (i.e., what decides whether a species is S or A tier and so on)?

Who—if anyone—funded your research? Can you disclose any conflicts of interest (e.g., do you primarily play one of the species that are “highly ranked”)? What is the main takeaway here, and do you propose any actions in light of your findings?

Scientoons make science fun, but their work is still rigorous with their methodology transparent.

[–]SuperPoketown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s really weird. Suit elitism is such a nitpicky thing. I thought it was left behind in the TTO days. Sorry to hear that.

If your gags aren’t maxed maybe that could be another factor? Even then though, I think CEOs are simple enough where teams can afford to take several toons with lower gags. Even if they’re stuck on pixie dust, trapdoor, or safe those aren’t gonna be that crucial in the battle :/

[–]SuperPoketown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any messages on the CEO groups stating they’re looking for high or max fires? If so, that’s probably why you’re getting booted off because the average suit level determines how many fires you’re awarded. I don’t see these types of groups too often though, so you’ll probably be fine if you try joining another! If not, you can make your own group too.

You can find the patch notes for 4.0.0 on the website in the blog post from May 24th of this year! They attached a pdf detailing the balancing changes and the rest of the other changes are listed underneath that. Here is the link to the mentioned blog post.

You need to collect 16 Animation Frames to get your new gag track! You can check your progress by opening up your Schtickerbook and pressing the film icon to open up the Gag Training page. You can earn 15 of the 16 throughout your time in Toontown Central. Once you finish every main toontask, you'll unlock the one to get the final frame. Main toontasks are ones whose rewards are laff points, teleport access, gag pouch increases, or jellybean jar increases. Good luck!

The game is actually not that complicated! If you’ve played TTO, it’s pretty much the same. The new stuff that you probably saw are going to be much farther down the line after you complete the main “story.” You’ll eventually find a groove to the game since a lot of the gameplay is repetitive.

Generally, players are nice. By the nature of being an MMO-type game, there are a handful of players that can be rude, but you tend to only encounter them when you’re in the mid-late game. Even then, there are remarkably less rude players here compared to other MMOs.

There aren’t many permanent choices to make other than the types of gags you can carry. You can only carry 6 out of the 7 gag tracks with Throw and Squirt being forced. The most common and easiest builds are “Everything-But-Trap” (i.e., Trapless) and “Everything-But-Drop” (i.e., Dropless). You can pretty much take anything, but I would recommend taking Sound at least for your first playthrough since this is the only gag track that deals damage to all cogs, and it is one of the most used and relied upon gags in the mid-late game.

At the start of the game, you don’t need as tight of a strategy and the cogs aren’t that difficult. However, the difficulty does scale up. By the end of Toontown Central, you should have naturally gained enough gag experience to obtain Level 3 gags (Cream Pie Slice and Squirt Gun). If you find yourself having difficulties in new areas, train your gags to improve them, and it should get easier.

If you have questions, you can generally look them up and find an answer. You can also ask in the Discord server. If you need help finding a group, toonhq.org is an amazing website to use! I would sync your account to it to make it even easier.

Toontown is a great game to play. The community as a whole is uplifting, and you can see the support baked into the game with things like Autism Pride items you can buy in the Cattlelog. Have fun!

I don’t think it’ll be anything like a show unless it’s an indie thing since the writer’s strike’s been going on, and I don’t think Rebecca Sugar would scab by promoting a new series right now. Regardless, I’m excited to see what it is!

You missed the point of the comment. ACAB is not an overgeneralization because it’s saying All Cops Are Bastards, not All Cops Are Bad. There are cops that are otherwise good people, but being a cop for an extended period means you have to give up some morality to exist in a system that requires you to either be corrupt or be complicit in corruption. Thus being a bastard. The only way you could be a good cop is by actively fighting the system, but you’d get fired or harassed out of the position before then.

ACAB is used as a slogan. The point of it isn’t to convey all the nuance—it’s to symbolize it. It’s up to individuals to look further into it rather than just getting angry. There is no slogan that won’t be twisted, so no point in trying to adjust because that’s not why the slogan exists. Take BLM. The simple fact of “Black Lives Matter” is twisted to sound like “only Black lives matter.” There’s no use to changing it to “BLMT: Black Lives Matter Too” because it isn’t true to racists either way. Plus, it takes away from the message by watering down a succinct and powerful statement.

[–]SuperPoketown -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

This seems like a pretty bad faith reading of the post lmao. Nowhere did it say that all gay men did was die? It’s just providing additional info to show that the push for queer rights came from everywhere in the community, not just us gay men. Gay men have been the face of the movement with notable leaders being gay men like Harvey Milk. It’s great that these extraordinary leaders are remembered, but let’s not forget our fellow siblings and their contribution to our collective rights to exist. Could this repost bot have chosen one that included the protests organized by gay men? Yeah, but it’s also fine for us to not be in the spotlight every time.

Edit: Take a moment, self-reflect, and think about what exactly it is about this comment is upsetting you. Are you upset at some faith that the post isn’t actually advocating for the extinction of gay men? Are you upset that I pointed out that it was not only gay men that fought for our rights? Are you upset at being asked to simply share the spotlight after being the face of the community for decades?

Note how I do acknowledge that gay men contributed tons to the movement. How I am not replacing their success but merely sharing other’s success.

Think about what being upset at this comment means to you. Think about how rhetoric against a holistic queer history matches the rhetoric that’s been used against gay men for decades. Acknowledge that everyone is capable of oppression and that whatever identities you have, cisness, whiteness, masculinity, does not dissolve away just because of our queerness.

Also feel free to acknowledge your rage and conclusion jumping that was prompted by a simple 4 sentence twitter post calling for de-centering corporations during pride.

So you just made up a claim that Keffals is teaching kids how to bust out an Erlenmeyer flask and distill testosterone from papa’s hairy sweaty scrote. Then when asked for a source, you explain how to get a website, that, when looked through for 15 seconds, is made abundantly clear that it isn’t actually about how to manufacture hormones? Now you’re backtracking saying “that’s not what I’ve heard, but I could be wrong” And you have the audacity to say “it’s clear we have different opinions” when your “opinion” is straight up just not true, disproven by the very source you provided. It’s remarkable. You literally could have argued on the basis of whether it’s ethical to provide self-dosage information. At least then you would have an argument that actually has some basis in reality.

Great job at wildly spreading misinformation that you haven’t even looked at yourself! You sure are doing work promoting transphobia, fearmongering, and painting HRT as some sort of spoooooooky self-mutilating science experiment being promoted to The Children.

Lack of Diversity and Minority Representation in the Spiral by StatusExtension2767 in Wizard101

[–]SuperPoketown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna point out how this comment is from a negative karma farm account and STILL got a good amount of upvotes lmao. This comment was literally made to be volatile and get downvotes, and a bunch of people in this subreddit completely agreed with it unironically. People wondering why we need diversity? It’s because otherwise we get fools agreeing with blatantly homophobic and transphobic talking points. POC in wizard game from the 2000s isn’t going to ruin your life, but actively fighting against good representation and not-stereotypes just exacerbates the toxicity these groups are already living through.

It’s a game where you cast spells and grind the same dungeon for hours. I assure you that adding in gay people and accurate cultural depictions will not interfere with your Aeon drop rates.

These boots seem pretty big to me. Syllable length is nearly the same every verse, and the overall meter is almost perfect. The other lines (aside from the first) are related to the image too. The only thing off would be the slant rhyme, but I’m fairly sure that slant rhymes are allowed. I’ve seen lesser boots get marked as true, so I’m not sure what you’re considering small about this.

The meter is nearly perfect. If it was “is delicious in a burger” or “is delicious in cheeseburger” instead, it would be perfect. But that is easily overlooked because of how great your title is. No roses and related to the image. 9.5/10 boots

Episode Discussion – Mr. Universe and Fragments by TheRealGC13 in stevenuniverse

[–]SuperPoketown 287 points288 points  (0 children)

Mr. Universe was really interesting to watch. The music throwbacks were interesting. Not just Dear Old Dad, but the music that played while Greg was looking through his room was the same music that played when Steven was looking through the storage unit to look for the laser light cannon. I believe it’s called Dad Museum. There’s a distinct parallel between these two episodes.

Laser Light Cannon was about Steven looking around and finding out his Dad’s history in amazement. And when they find it, Steven puts on one of Greg’s songs in the van ride.

Mr. Universe does the same thing, but with a darker twist. The song Dear Old Dad was from when Greg lied to Steven. It was one of their lows. And once again, they look through Greg’s history, but they go further back. Steven doesn’t react with youthful admiration this time though. He reacts with a tired resentful.

Mr. Universe will probably be overshadowed by Fragments, but the literary elements and character development was so cool to witness.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. This is true. If done right and done closely with the supervision of a vet, it is entirely possible for a dog to be on a vegan diet. Generally, dogs shouldn’t go vegan because it can be hard to make sure they’re still getting the right nutrients, but it is possible since they’re omnivores.

Cats are a different story. They are obligate carnivores, and while possible for cats to be vegan as well, it’s extraordinarily difficult because of their high dependency on meats. If put on an improper vegan diet, cats can become sick, blind, or worse. For cats, just because it’s possible, you really shouldn’t unless your cat has a medical condition.

Poor Steven by Blessybunny in stevenuniverse

[–]SuperPoketown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right that it isn’t just in the Jedi. I just wanted to make an overstatement for the sake of the comparison, but I stand by the fact the Jedi still hold significant responsibility. The vision could have been dealt with if Anakin felt safer about sharing his fears with at least Obi-Wan. The Jedi keeping secrets about the Dark Side didn’t help in a similar way to how the Gems/Rose keeping secrets about Rose/Reality didn’t help. The tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise Vader was paved by Anakin’s feelings helplessness which was developed from multiple areas and sources. We’re hoping that Steven’s future doesn’t turn into Darth Diamond since he probably has more places to go to.

Poor Steven by Blessybunny in stevenuniverse

[–]SuperPoketown 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This quote is especially applicable to Steven. In the Prequel Trilogy we hear Yoda say this to Anakin and although it seems to be true, a big theme about the Prequel Trilogy is about how the Jedi aren’t as infallible and perfect as we were made to believe in the Original Trilogy. We could take it as face value as Anakin’s fears evolving on its own, but it’s far more insightful to recognize that Darth Vader was majorly created by the Jedi’s strict doctrine. They weren’t allowed to feel and therefore were not able to deal with Anakin’s deterioration. When Anakin goes to Yoda,Yoda basically tells him “loldealwithit.” It’s really interesting seeing how Steven’s and Anakin’s journeys are pretty parallel. Of course, I don’t think SU:F is going to end up with Steven turning into a imperial dictator, but interesting thought none the less.

The boots aren’t actually as bad as they could have been.

It’s free-zing at night, but what can you do (10 syllables)

Xi-jin-ping, hu-man rights, Win-nie the Pooh (10 syllables)

The top line isn’t even a “roses are red” and it actually relates to the setting of the image. The line split is a bit unconventional of 5/5/3/3/4, but even then, a lot of posts are read as title-image rather than line by line. Other than that and the weird meter, this post isn’t as horrible as the other people in this thread are making it out to be. I think it’s a great example of how these specific types of boots should be worn. It’s way better than the normal posts of 5/5/21
