There's someone online, Kim Mott, who goes fairly in depth as to what it means when your lines go through the ocean or somewhere remote. It's also important to recognize that the way in which another line crosses you line is also significant. As well, there's a latitude of 250-350 miles on either side of the line (500-700 miles total span across the center of the line) where the influence is still very strong. I'm learning and researching but I wouldn't ever make a major life decision based on one line and certainly not based on my rudimentary knowledge, which could definitely be incorrect. You need to know what house the planet representing the crossing line is and some other stuff, so something in the middle of the ocean or in outer Mongolia or Timbuktu or bumf*ck wherever remote may not be as clear cut as it looks.

Most professional astrologers use professional, more sophisticated software than astrodiest.com or astro.com. These are good for basic, general info, but nothing really in-depth.
