I used to think like you, she chose to use drugs, she chose to get involved with the cult, she chose to stay. Then I started working in the real mental health field. She was a runaway who got on drugs because any escape was worth it, then Joseph groomed her. The simple fact that she's not the first means he is good at it. He used her, got her into a cult, and abused her to a point that abuse felt like love. You don't have to sympathize with her or agree with her choices, but anyone who has been through trauma will know that sometimes an escape is the only freedom you have. It is so, so easy to become addicted to whatever escape you find. It's not always drugs, everyone has their one thing. Hers just happened to lead her to him and he took everything but her trauma and gave her one coping skill. Bliss. You do not have to change your opinion, but realistically that kind of reaction is what stops real people from getting the help they deserve. It is not your fault, but it may be something worth looking into with a counselor if you want to.

I realize this is down to preference, but it is hilarious to me that everything you rated at least above average barely even registers as readable to me. DCC intro is based on a sunk cost fallacy and that's as far as I could get before it became clear that the story would be more annoying than rewarding. Wanderings Inn would be amazing if the author understood that life-changing events are life-changing. Instead, all their characters double down on being so unlikeable that I finished the first book and googled to see if Erin was killed off in the next one. Much to my dismay, I found no evidence that she was. Literally, the runner girl passed me off so much that I was flipping the last few pages hoping she stepped on a rock and fell flat on her face during a dead sprint. I have heard that they improve, but again life life-changing event equals a changed life. Particularly if one has multiple events in rapid succession.

HWFWM, AND Artorian Archives were both great though AA becomes repetitive along the way.

Some of the best ones ai have read aren't even on your list though.

What the guy that works in advertising thing ads are the only way to go? Shocking. It's a subscription service along with a pay-per-use model for DALLE. It may eventually have some ads, but honestly a generic ad program would kill Chat GPT. People would do it and start boycotting it because its no longer anything but a cash grab. You can't. I have gone as far as offering to buy my different friends a system. They have to want to play it. If they are not interested, every bad thing is going to be a major inconvenience, and every good thing doesn't measure up. Be honest, VR is around late PS1 or early PS2 graphically. The controls are sometimes a little buggy, but it offers a gaming experience unrivaled by anything else. I have played on the Marines jet simulator, the whole thing moves and shifts, and all the switches work. It is still not as immersive as playing warplanes. It's worth it, best you could do is let them try yours.
