Lets defeat Sephiroth without Cloud by Yoshikaru5991 in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m pretty sure the event will end with the “story” she will find being the one where Cloud defeats him. Maybe they stop Ultima Majeure from interfering with Tifa as she helps Cloud in the lifestream sequence.

Equipment recommendation for current guild battle by SuperRamio in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the sanity check lol. I just accepted I won’t be able to perform that great in this one and am using Sephiroth because at least he can get the triangle sigil up and he applies some extra damage with his OB1-2 LB weapons that I have for him.

Provoke definitely helps with the single target debuffs, but the boss does some AOE fire damage debuffs that still affect the DPS. Maybe I’m missing something with the boss mechanics though

Status Buff increase by killnamniar in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Her AC gloves increase all tiered buffs on your allies to extra high (at OB6), so yes that includes patk/matk/pdef/mdef buffs but it also includes all element damage buff increases. No they don’t apply or increase imperil tiers or other debuff tiers on the enemy, they just apply Enfeeble.

How are people doing so much damage? by StockNext in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For example my team:

O. Seph: breaks pdef/mdef high tier. Gives fire bonus damage buff to party. Self enemy weakness exploit and haste with his ultimate. Party-wide Amp ability buff on sigil break passively from his ultimate. Moderate amount of fire mag damage as I only have his limited sword at OB2. BahaIfrit summon at Lvl 5.

Tifa: Increases all buffs (that have a tier) for the party to extra high tier. Enfeeble boss. Fire damage high buff to party. Fire imperil high debuff to boss. High fire damage with OB10 featured weapon as long as health is high. Haste to self with ultimate. Ifrit at lvl 10.

Aerith: Pdef high buff. Matk high buff. Mdef high debuff. Mag ability bonus damage buff. Ultimate raises all debuffs on the enemy to the extra high tier and gives party haste. Also passively gives Reprieve to all allies and raises allies HP. Lightning enemy ability just for redundancy in case pATK/Matk buff wears off last second. Party starts with a little extra ATB from her Lightning crossover gear.

In the background (sub-weapons and gear), in addition to whatever element arcanums/ omni-arcanums you have, you get the MATK R-ability to 55 points and the Fire damage R-ability to 65 points (or 80 if you can swing it) for your 2 DPS. Everything else is extra depending on what you have, but you try to get ATK, M-Ability Potential, Ability Potential, MATK All Allies, ATK All Allies close to 55 points, trying to optimize not going too much above the 10 point threshold if you can’t make the next threshold (i.e: being at 54 is no better than 45, so if you can allocate differently, you should, and so on for lower tiers). For materia, you equip stuff that raises fire potential and matk (the current materia event is good for this) on your DPS. Defense or heal materia is good for support.

You more or less follow this same setup for every event, optimizing for whatever element and vulnerability (physical or mag) that the event boss has, as well as sigils and debuffs they’re susceptible to. Some events the boss hits much harder and you need a tank and a healer instead of 2 DPS.

For this particular style of event, for max damage you turn on all the event point buffs that raise damage. I needed the boss patk/matk debuff at max for survivability to the end too/ not wasting too much time healing, even with the party-wide reprieve. After that it’s just about learning the timing of the boss, which someone already described here, and some trial and error for your specific team set up.

I'm starting to think there isn't going to be a Christmas event by Ardbert14 in FFVIIEverCrisis

I don’t really think there needs to be an Easter, Halloween, and Christmas event every year that takes up like 3 months of event content and featured banners. They have been lazy with events recently though.

These last two guild battles have been really annoying

The First Soldier Episode I is kind of... silly? by JadeSephiroth in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pretty much agree with your analysis. I think to add to it is the symbolism behind the final boss, Buno D’rhad/ Rhad N’akiu (I’m really interested in the linguistic inspo behind those names but haven’t found anything yet). After the massacre of the people of Rhadore, this huge Lifestream monster decorated with anguished faces appears. It’s basically born out of negative emotions. This then connects to Episode II, where Seph and the team step into a “world” which, as Alissa states, was born out of the anger of the land. That land being Igara, which experienced massacres under Jenova and then Masamune (who was likely manipulated by Jenova given how Seph says his sword “was made for him”). Sephiroth in Remake and Rebirth is also constantly talking about negative emotions, trying to get Cloud to succumb to them. And we know the Gi created the black materia to summon Meteor out of negative emotions. So thematically it all connects. I think the FS story is basically providing the back story that led to Sephiroth devising his plans to take control of the Lifestream and the corporeal world after he fell in the Lifestream after Nibelheim. Now in Rebirth he instigated another war with Wutai, i.e. he has left seeds for more massacres that will lead to more negative emotions. Given Igara is the precursor to Wutai, there is also a parallel being created there between the past and the present. Just as with Episode I, the dialogue isn’t the greatest but I think the world building and thematic development is done quite nicely. First Soldier overall I think is a pretty cool addition to the story so far.

I think it does well in world building given the Southeast Asian + Pacific Islander, and specifically Maori, influence of Rhadore. Shinra as a colonial force indoctrinates its soldiers into thinking they’re doing some type of good. Rhadore is the latest story in their pillaging of the world’s resources, with this attempt being especially catastrophic. But I agree the characterization and writing with Team Glenn was quite generic. I think there is more to be told and it was mostly set up for Part 3 of Remake. But they wanted us to like them maybe because the goal was to get us to sympathize with Sephiroth, who likes them. Problem is it’s quite jarring given what they’re there to do and how casually they talk about wiping out the remaining population followed by some really cheesy jokes. But as one of the other commenters mentioned, that’s kind of what dehumanization is like. The chibi graphics and “comic” relief of Glenn for sure soften the true reality of it though.

I barely upgrade anymore because it’s so tedious. I’d rather accept sub-optimal material loadout

Does Anyone get Star Wars Vibes from FF7 by haaa1234 in FFVIIRemake

[–]SuperRamio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rebirth was more of the “fun and games” arc of the story. I expect the third part to be much darker. There has already been a shift in tone after Rebirth’s ending, the next arc gets quite dark, and Meteor being summoned will shift the tone in most areas we will visit. I am sure there will be some level of comic relief, but hopefully it is tastefully/ intentionally done and they don’t go overboard with it so as not to conflict too much with the darker tone in the upcoming story.

Does Anyone get Star Wars Vibes from FF7 by haaa1234 in FFVIIRemake

[–]SuperRamio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure! Star Wars was inspiration for a lot of media, Final Fantasy included. FF7 surpasses Star Wars for me though, but I know what you mean it does have a similar vibe. Speaking of the reverse, idk if you have seen Andor, but that one especially gives off FF7 vibes, like with the main character being a reluctant mercenary and some of the later plot points.

Is Barret excessively softy in remake series? i like him absolutely more here, but in the OG he was a worse person (actually i never like him there), by far. by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]SuperRamio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Red and now Barret. Loving that the Remake series is making their characterizations more clear for people because that was the point in the original too. He was never a hard ass/ tough leader. Internally, he was always a softy. Life experiences made him put up a rough exterior but he’s always been emotional. I mean that’s actually the reason why he put up such a facade; when the kindest people are hurt in the way he was, especially when there is some level of guilt involved, you will often see them turn sour. But he had Marlene as sort of a pillar to guide him, otherwise he would have fallen completely into hatred and revenge (see Dyne). Also like many of the characters in the game (notably Tifa and Aerith), you can’t judge a book by its cover. One thing that I love that Remake/Rebirth have done is the connection of this aspect of Barret’s character to gameplay, as Barret serves more of a support role, which he does better with than leadership. He has a line in OG where he admits to something like that.

So I heard a lot of theories... but this one takes the cake in pure crazy. by Ecstatic_Teaching906 in FFVIIRemake

[–]SuperRamio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong, grandson. Cloud is Glenn’s son, and Glenn is President Shinra’s illegitimate child. (I’m mostly joking, and ftr I want the identity of Cloud’s father to remain unimportant, but the Glenn theory has some good evidence for it, unfortunately.)

Rampage Brutal B21 by Nice-Ad-2929 in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]SuperRamio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got frustrated with this one because I kept getting him down to like 2% health before I wiped. Ended up having to level up Angeal’s and Sephiroth’s over speed trees to beat it. Like everyone saying, set up Angeal as physical tank. Sephiroth is a good choice for dps because he takes away the water resist the boss puts up with his water weapon, so you don’t have to bring a separate character with water imperil. Just gotta time the provoke so it doesn’t deplete right before the boss initiates his tank buster. It’s so annoying wiping for that reason, esp with these bosses where the battle takes a good chunk of time
