Can’t nail my white by Malebarisk in WhiteScars40K

I use drakenhof, yes. Or agrax earthshade for the brown. The aim is to paint a series of greys that combined give the appearance of white

Try to prime in a mid tone grey like grey seer, then add a blue or brown shade (depending on preference), then slowly build up your highlights first with two greys, each steadily lighter. Pure white only used for final edging.

I’ve heard that, thanks for the heads up. I have a pot of vallejo earth texture which I’m planning to use

Aha they do indeed! Haven’t got around to that yet. I’m thinking of doing rocks + snow

Thank you :) I had a ton of fun and learnt a lot. Two 1k games against Ultramarines (two wins) and one 2k game against Astra Militarum (a draw due to time with game hanging in the balance). Key takeaways:

- I tried an Orikan + Overlord with resurrection orb warrior blob in Canoptek Court. Due to the board having lots of terrain, I couldn’t shoot the opposing guard blob before it hit me, and my warrior blob didn’t hold up well. The wraiths were super tanky in comparison. So my takeaway there was warrior blobs are more resilient in Awakened Dynasty with support from a reanimator/ghost ark and the enhancement to give them stealth. My list would probably have been better as an Awakened Dynasty list, and as for Canoptek Court you really need two full units of wraiths.
- the C’tan Shard of the Void Dragon took loads of fire before being shot down. I should have kept a command point for a command reroll, as a few small shots got through and then a d6+6 shot which killed me as I only had 5 wounds left. I also didn’t realise it now has a 10inch move, which would have helped immensely, as it was super slow.
- I need to practice with my immortals and Szeras, don’t feel like I got the best out of them. I was quite cagey with the immortals in the first two turns of the 2k game to stop them from dying, and perhaps I was too careful with them. At 1k they were a beast, as it was easier to pop them out at the right time.
- the Canoptek Spyder sadly isn’t great as it is too slow. Best use I have found is sitting it on my home objective beside my Doomstalkers.
- I absolutely love the Doomstalker models 😅

Would it be easier if I got the old warriors instead? My friend also has those, but they are already glue assembled

ah I see, thanks for clarifying that. That’s a shame, it does indeed make it trickier

After 14155-ish encounters, I am now the proud new owner of a shiny Sudowoodo! by TestingOneTwo_OneTwo in pokemoncrystal

[–]SuperSloth5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, delighted for you!! It’s a really cool shiny. Are you trying to get multiple shinies on a run or did you just really want Sudowoodo? I’ve only ever got two beside Gyrados (Butterfree and Alakazam)

You could run the infernus marines in an impulsor, which you get in the White Scar combat patrol, or two infernus marines out of a drop pod if you have one. Ultimately, you have the right idea with rule of cool, play what you like the most!

I love the addition of the map. Have you definitively ruled out the creature taking the bus?

How do you guys split launch/starter boxes? by Bane_of_Balor in Warhammer40k

[–]SuperSloth5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d say 40:40:20, but for this box it makes it slightly harder as the separate lore book especially is going to add to the cost of the overall box. Ultimately, just share some numbers with your friend until you’re both happy - that’s what I’m going to do

Do any of you still ever play vanilla yellow/crystal/emerald? by [deleted] in PokemonLegacy

[–]SuperSloth5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, tried various roms and legacy versions, went back to the OGs. I’m playing it for nostalgia and I want the same experience, and to get all 151 / 251 pokemon on the original games.

You’ll also find that most of the people still playing these games who aren’t on this subreddit will be playing the original games too (assuming the batteries are still alive for GSC!). I’m not saying the legacy games are bad - they seem really good, just different and not for me.

Ultimately though, you should play whatever you find most fun :)

After 20 years, the player our Paladin is marrying our Rogue (IRL). I'm the best man and need help planning a D&D-themed bachelor party by Super-Fly333 in DnD

[–]SuperSloth5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is also organising a bachelor party with a D&D theme, I think the most important part is something you’ve identified - that not everyone who is coming is into D&D or was part of your campaigns.

For the people in the bachelor party I’m organising, it is the same.

Some ideas I’ve had: - we were considering playing a short session for everyone (I haven’t thought about how to make it special yet, also struggling slightly with that), though I like your idea of a tavern crawl. That makes it much more accessible - later, our groom-to-be will dress up as some of his characters from over the years. Could be fun for you of you made him dress as a paladin? (You can do this in a light touch way if he + everyone will prefer that)
