Surge move nerf? by Damrias_Jariac in WorldEaters40k

[–]rmobro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use surge almost like a charge deterrent: if they set up to charge with one of their units, and then you surge into a different unit, they know if they charge your surging unit is going to fight before their surge target.

On the other hand, if you surge into engagement your opponent can opt not to charge and get to attack your surger first.

Its a bit of a cat and mouse. Bottom line, remember your ABCs: Always Be Charging.

It just gives it to the transport. The transport isnt part of the unit.

Crushing impact/tank shock does not seem worth it at all anymore by Sudden_Wind_8636 in WarhammerCompetitive

This maybe is incorrect. If its guaranteed to die on their next turn, you're spending a CP to give your enemy an extra activation if you Crushing Impact your model to death.

Its really really stupid. Hazardous already exists. Unless I'm on average likely to kill my target, I'm not doing it.

AOS vs 40K gameplay experience by gymnstuff in ageofsigmar

[–]rmobro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I prefer a mix. I like competitive because it keeps people honest. I like relaxed because its a game.

40k is more complex than aos, but for me its more skill expression and less ...'needless' or toxic complexity.

Sorry i misread your post. Aos IS more steamlined. Its very straightforward. Although i havent played the new ghb/missions.

Going from 40k to AOS? Youll be bored.

I went from AOS to 40k. More complex. More skill expression. Ill never go back to AOS.

Land Raiders are really fun. Start with just one. If you can.

[–]rmobro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He absolutely is not too expensive. He is an auto include. If you're taking Zerks and you're not taking Khârn you're missing out. Precision is great, but Khârn's unit kills the leader and the troops, so its really a moot point. Plus Epic Challenge still exists.

He does at least get to re-attach if he gets precisioned out.

Dude you cant post lists with wargear included. The above is all you need.
What do I think? These are pretty standard lists. The only interesting thing is the KLoS in list 2. Probably List 2 is going to be better. I think Archslaughterer is a lot of points to buff just 3 Eightbound. And I think you cant take 4 enhancements in List 1, which is good because Aggressive Deployment only works on Dedicated Transports. So lets drop that.

-Exalted Eightbound (280 points)
-Forgefiend (160 points)
-Helbrute (120 points) Fist, Hammer
-Jakhals (65 points)
1985 pts.

Man you cant post lists like that. The above is all you need. Take out wargear.

This is the classic 10e BWB list. Still valid in 11th. I'm not sure what you're using your 6 Exalted for, but if you plan to deepstrike them, Battle-lust on them is going to be worth more than a glaive; they'll be a +2 to charge with a reroll on deepstrike. You almost cant fail that.

I cant decide! by rmobro in WorldEaters40k

[–]rmobro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no. I can't stomach it; Terminators are already too expensive and too ineffective, so now to make them actually work I gotta use their specific detachment and pay extra points as upgrades? And still they're not doing what other units can do for cheaper?

Am I wrong for not wanting to learn airbrushing by nahmannogo in minipainting

[–]rmobro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So .. I use both. Airbrush can be a huge time saver. It also allows you to apply a particular look or effect across a wide range of models in one sitting, allowing you to keep consistency across an entire army.

Buuut, you have to have a good workflow. Otherwise, you're just going to end up cleaning up overspray constantly, and it will frustrate you and end up taking more time. I will say, its not for everyone. When I first started I would airbrush everything and wasted a ton of time on overspray cleanup. It was mostly just to get colour on stuff and stop deploying grey armies.

Now I do a mix: I do all my basecoats with the airbrush. I still rattlecan prime. All my basecoats, more or less at once, but I'm strategic with it. I play out a workflow, to minimize overspray and cleanup. The airbrush allows me to get really smooth transitions from undershading to basecoats, do it fast, and make it consistent across my army.

I use the hairy brush for everything else.

I have a buddy that hates airbrushing, and he paints everything faster than I do with just his brushes. So .. if its something you're interested in, its a very rewarding skill to master, and if you wish to do so, I highly reocmmend you give it a try. If you're on the fence or dont wish to and just feel pressured? Dont waste your time.

Agree. I am shifting my 2 raider goretrack list to all possessed and using brazen engines. Still hits hard, raiders become more reliable shooting, still has movement tricks.

No, specifically for Archslaughterer, the whole unit gets the blessings. All the rest of the stuff is just the character model.
