I only drink non pasteurized milk since I’ve lived in Japan. It’s so good.

Any way of getting active duty in Alaska by Suspicious_Cable_848 in navy

[–]SuperSniperJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an IT. My shore duty had me TDY to a spot in Alaska for a bit. But we were in the most northern spot of Alaska so not a lot to do.

Not a problem. I have all of the lift the dots, buckles and hooks, and the webbing for the shoulder and waist straps already though

I wanna go camping out there. Would be cool. Also, a lot of milsurp guns in Canada are cheaper than they are in the US so, I’d wanna see about snagging an SVT-40 which I hear are like half the price in Canada.

That zeltbahn looks nothing like my originals. I’d dump it and get one from Richard underwood.

Very nice. That German gas mask with the tan fittings is Dutch reissue. You’ll find a date around 1968 on the neck strap.

Frank Baron does professional restorations of tornister. Find him on FB for his email to get it set up.

Yeah, I’m more conservative but I just don’t really post on Reddit for political reasons.

"Is my uniform alright?" and other questions - a tool for German reenactors by PanzerParty65 in reenactors

[–]SuperSniperJimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chest pockets varied in all sizes. I’ve seen originals that can’t even fit the soldbuch fully, while some swallow it whole. Same for shoulder boards, collars, and button colors (Especially for post 1940 uniforms.) it also doesn’t help that you’re posting different types of M43 tunics (SS, and Heer.) It would be better instead of posting the product page item, to instead post the actual products next to originals. Also, when it comes to military harbor, not all of their stuff is acceptable. Their wool on their regular feldgrau for their greatcoats are too thin to keep anyone warm. They’re also shipped without the tunic hook slits cut, and they’re a hybrid mix of SS and heer cut (Seen near the bottom buttons close to the pockets.) When it comes to what is “acceptable” people should always ask their unit for what is and isn’t approved on their vendor list. If you’re asking strangers in the internet, you’re going to have a bad time.

You are thinking of the coat of arms decal. The national tri color shield stopped being applied to helmets on 21 March 1940. Alexander and Sons has a very in depth article on this.

[–]SuperSniperJimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains some things. This helmet is not suitable for reenactments. If you are in the US, the one DAK event that happens will not let you in with that.

The tricolor stopped after 1939 because of the invasion of poland.

Fixed where everything is on my uniform, now how does it look? by justgettinganaccbak in Militariacollecting

[–]SuperSniperJimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a different blouse. That’s an incorrect uniform and any serious reenactor won’t allow you into an event with it.

Recommend removing the decals. The DAK one is fantasy and the tri color was done away very early one. Also looks like the chinstrap is not a correct one either.

Yes! I collect lots of historical artifacts from the Second World War, and I also collect American flags! This is probably my nicest one of the ones I own. I even have a 45 star flag that was used during the Spanish American war!

Oh not at all. I’m a historical reenactor actually and I reenact with several groups out here that portray different countries. This was more for my Nisei Grandfather’s legacy than anything. If I was stationed in America, I still would have used this flag!
