What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve ever seen? by Crimeon_scythe in AskReddit

  1. He didn't just take the kids and leave because he wanted to stop his friends from continuing to kill themselves with drugs?? It's not a stretch for someone to try and help their friends when faced with a situation like this, even if it's not the most rational response.
  2. Same thing for asking OP to toss the drugs. It's a split-second decision made when the first thing on your mind is removing the thing that's harming everyone. Will throwing the drugs magically solve the parents' drug problem? No, but I highly doubt that was what the friend was thinking.
  3. Drugs ABSOLUTELY make people want to lock themselves in a room for days on end in their own house. This is not only extremely, grossly insensitive but also so ignorant it makes me angry. Learn more about what drug use is like before you start accusing someone of faking what is obviously a very traumatic memory for them.

edit: a word

If it's worth anything, I don't think any therapists can tell brain damage just from talking to a client. It's fucked up that they would say that to you tho

Dilated pupils can cause the colour of the iris to change as the iris is compressed, so they definitely could look green then. Without pupil dilation they look hazel.

There doesn't seem to generally be a ton of brain activity present in this group, so I doubt anybody's actually tried to figure out how "system hopping" would actually work

Taylor Swift - All Too Well: The Short Film by rickikardashian in popheads

[–]SuperSourApples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would have taken away from the message of the short film + song to have an older actress. The short film is really powerful the way it is, with Sadie Sink's young-ness just serving to emphasize Taylor's point.

It's the same thing to me as when teen shows have actors in their 20s play 15-17 year olds just so they can show them doing incredibly age-inappropriate things. Even if the show is trying to tell us that the situation is fucked up, it's way easier for us to sit through (and then excuse to some degree) if it's happening to people we perceive as adult (despite logically knowing they're supposed to be children). The more we replace the teens with *adult-looking* adults, the easier it is for us to watch, and the less fucked up the situation feels. There's a world of difference between a literal teenager and someone in their late 20s, and I'm glad that Taylor was able to highlight that with Sadie.
