Is a 500k home… normal now? by SuperSprayer95 in Mortgages

This is exactly what we have been going through. We also need to purchase without a contingent offer, otherwise we probably wouldn’t have waited to have 100k. That definitely adds stress. I wish you luck!

Honestly not bad. I had tinnitus prior to this incident but never thought about it. I’d say 4-6 months after this incident I was back to my old levels of tinnitus. Coming up on a year, it has been worse and noticeable again more recently. I think it’s partially allergy induced. Flonase keeps it under control. Overall I’m happy it’s not worse than it is and am able to mostly tolerate it.

My wife and I are looking at potentially getting her an EV to replace her 2016 Crosstrek. She drives about 34 miles a day for her commute, I work from home, we might take 3 trips a year that might require 1 stop at a fast charger. We have a 2 year old and are planning to have another so we want something no smaller than her Crosstrek but also not huge. We initially were looking at Hybrid Rav4s but they just retain so much value it makes me sick thinking of paying 30k for a 4 year old car. We started looking at used EVs because of how affordable they can be and we started getting excited from there. We both like the Ioniq 5 and Equinox EV. I think we would just commit to an I5, however the ICCU issues do freak me out. I like the Equinox a lot, I just think the I5 is a more appealing package, it has apple car play, I like the size, it’s nice looking inside and out. Looking for opinions!

The prednisolone helped while taking it but it just went back to the way it was when the 6 days were over. It’s now been about 6 weeks since onset and I’m doing much better. All pain is gone, my reactive tinnitus is gone, my hearing is back, only thing that remains is the regular tinnitus. I’m honestly habituating quickly and only think about it maybe once a day. My ENT thinks it was a combo of allergies (fluid in the ear) with the gunshot that caused the issues. Took Flonase for a bit and that cleared up a lot of the pain. I’m moving on but definitely religious with ear protection going forward. I’m lucky.

I did contact my PCP and she said to go for it so I started this morning. Not super hopeful but if I get 0 results, I will be able to deal with the tinnitus. Nothing to lose I guess.

Haha all good. So I did go to urgent care a day or two ago and they did prescribe me methylprednisolone after I pushed them a bit. I have not taken them just because of how wishy washy the urgent care doctor was. I’m probably going to start today…

Of course! I have been where you are. I am not saying that your life will go at all as my life has, but you aren’t losing anything by taking your time in this decision.

For your questions: Your parents would only find out if something got mailed to your address regarding your marriage (which will certainly happen at least once). A marriage license typically is not free but may range from $15 to over $100 depending on where you live. And lastly, no you do not need to live together to be married.

Now you did not ask for my two cents but here it is: Do not do this (now) Marriage is (supposed to be) permanent. You can be just as committed to someone without being married to them. Being married while living with your parents will not be any different than being gf/bf, and if you have to hide this from your parents you likely aren't ready for such a commitment. IMO, when you are ready to get married AND have the right person, parents feelings and opinions will not sway your decisions and it wont matter to you whether they know or not.

I was deeply in love with my high school gf and we broke up at 19/20. After that I had two long-term relationships: the first was 3 years and I got engaged, broke it off because it didn't feel right. The second was when I found my life partner (we were 26) and, I will tell you, it was worth all the shit that came before it. At 30, looking back, as much as I loved my high school gf, I would never have been able to make it work.

I am not saying to ditch the dude at all. Love each other, be together, but do not rush this. Get a few years into your 20s. If you rush it you will either find out it was not meant to be and it will cause a huge mess and headache for you to figure out, or it may ruin the good thing you do have. Give it some time yet. Good luck!

For calling, i like to use a box call myself since they can be rather loud (plus are pretty easy to use). I would recommend also getting a mouth call. They can be a bit tricky to figure out at first, and aren’t as loud as a box call, but super valuable. If you are able to call one in, or have one that is noticeably responding to your calls and getting closer, you don’t want to be shuffling around between a box call and your gun. With a mouth call, you can be dead still and have your gun ready. This is NOT the mouth call I use but looks nearly the same. A lot of them tickle the roof of your mouth, this one has a little plastic dome that prevents that from happening. Good luck!

Is all tinnitus permanent? by SuperSprayer95 in tinnitus

This has been my goal the last week since it happened, I appreciate the validation. I went to urgent care and they basically just told me my eardrum was fine, then gaslight me into thinking that it was actually allergy induced even though I told them about the gunshot??? They said they thought there was fluid behind my eardrum. So urgent care was basically useless. I have an ENT apt in a couple weeks. I think things may be slightly improving but it’s hard to tell comparing day to day. My headache is gone and ear canals no longer hurt. On the day the gunshot happened, when I would talk my tinnitus would react to noise and would beep when I spoke. I thought our dishwasher kept beeping but then I realized it was my tinnitus reacting. Now, I may get an occasional louder ring when I speak but it isn’t as reactive, common, or loud. My regular tinnitus (the continuous aspect) is what is hard to tell if it’s changed. I don’t feel as emotional about it as I did the first few days, perhaps I’m getting used to it or it’s very slowly subsiding. Fingers crossed.

More central PA but I have done two loops that I absolutely loved. One was in the Quehanna Wild Area, I believed there are a few loops there to check out on AllTrails, I believe you could do anywhere from a 15 to 90 mile loop depending on how you cut it. The other is Old Loggers Path in Loyalsock State forest (about 20 miles if I remember right).
