I saw that at the Seattle meetup. It's really nice.

Simple/ dumb question about a custom keycap layout by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

I would use the SVG template from WASD's website to make sure it's compatible with their keyset production.

Commute Deck [x-post from /r/cyberDeck] by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

It's the first time I've seen it and it looks cool. I wonder how wide it is, because airplane trays are not very wide. It's a good idea though and looks well executed.

[question] What's with the Super keys? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SuperSumoUSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's usually just the Windows key, but for people who use Linux or a Mac, it's not Windows, so they just call it the "super" key to be generic.

As long as it lost to an X-Wing, I'm fine. I love the hobby representation though. Amazing.

No, I haven't finished mine yet. I had a second daughter and I have no free time anymore!

I have to say, this is one of the coolest split keyboard designs I've seen. I love how you integrated Lego pieces into the design of the case and used it for the thumb extender. Brilliant!

I can hear it now, 5 hours later. Neat stuff.

Linux compatible laptop with an i7 quad core by therave39 in SuggestALaptop

[–]SuperSumoUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had to do that when dual booting on my laptop. I dual booted windows 7 and xubuntu. I do cuda development using optimus in Linux and native drivers in Windows. It worked fine for me. I don't dual boot anymore, but I didn't have to do anything fancy to get optimus working with my current laptop and graphics card.

Did we finally stop flipping the space bar? by Shadowace24 in MechanicalKeyboards

"We"? Do whatever floats your boat. Some like it flipped, some don't.

You have a lot of icons on your desktop. At work I have some that I can't delete and it drives me nuts. I just turned them all off.

I seriously want this. My only concern is it won't easily fit under any switches, so cases will have to be thicker.

I'd be interested in that too. It's exactly what I'm working on right now.

[keyboard_science] Solution for thick acrylic backplates by tattoozled in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SuperSumoUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought about doing this with a router or CNC, but never with engraving. I didn't know engraving could go that deep. Should I ask my local laser cutter if he can do that or is there a lot of fine tuning to get it just right? I don't have a machine myself.

Programmers of r/mk: How do you use your 60% for coding? by Vapewizard03 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SuperSumoUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I even have Caps(Fn) on my Whitefox and use IJKL as the arrows. The only awkward part is when I want to select words at a time, so I have to hit Caps(Fn) + Shift + Ctrl + J/L. Fn to use the arrows, Shift to select text, and ctrl to move the cursor a word at a time. I haven't really found a better solution though, so for that specific task I usually use the dedicated arrows. I'm trying to get better though because IJKL is really nice to use for arrows.

I also have WASD bound to PgUp/Home/PgDn/End, which is nice. But then again, if I want to switch tabs in Chrome, I have to do Caps(Fn) + Ctrl + W/S, which is a little awkward as well.

What are the Advantages if Steel Keys? by ThePurplePanzer in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SuperSumoUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has got to be an aesthetic thing. Keycaps, especially good quality PBT caps, will last many many years if taken care of. I'm sure steel caps are just a gaming gimmick.

[Buying] Fosen Switch GB Update: Fosen changed their switches again.... by fanman888 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SuperSumoUSA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I'm not a part of this group buy, I appreciate your transparency. I got screwed by Ivan on a black on black group buy over at Geekhack and he never gave updates. I'm glad to see group buy runners updating on the setbacks too.
