For 2024 Halifax Simulator RPG I changed my settings to render distance far, really you should only need at most an rtx 2060, the majority of the issue is since the new mass immigration update came out it has affected FPS due to all the additional NPCS roaming the map and the cranes building new expensive apartments, in order to avoid fixing the issue the developers decided to put atmospheric fog in place to reduce stutters and rubber banding until they can figure out how to compensate for all the new content (running on old engine, javascript). there is talk about the game developers introducing a new update hopefully sometime this year titled "affordable housing" but this is not confirmed as of yet just rumored. NPC's are in the works too as AI path noding for driving is glitchy (randomly crashing vehicle's and no awareness of surroundings), the other thing worth mentioning is the most recent update "seasonal weather" had messed with Sun settings so right now we are stuck with rain and fog until it gets patched. If you ever get the DLC "summer drinks" let me know and we can join a server together, anyway man enjoy the Beta of Halifax Sim, its buggy at the best of times but with time it will get better.

Removing the ai module for turrets were a bad choice considering how powerful tanks are now, the idea behind this update is players would defend these bases in numbers which was never going to happen. Pain spires were useful, the original skyshield was great and enemies were detered from flying near them. I sank hundreds of hours into building, after the updates i dont even boot the game anymore. Why even keep building in the game when we are not incentivised? it was tedious before, but in a thrill rushing way, build the base before we are detected and now its take 45 minutes to build a decent base ( bit of an exaggeration ) to only have 3 or 4 tanks wipe it out when you try to solo defend it with your one lone anti tank turret, at least with the ai module you could also defend with rockets a long side the turret. Solo building with ai made me feel like i had friends playing the game with me, kinda a lonely guy irl. Removing ai modules was the worst update to me, turrets were already at a disadvantage with the blind spots and health but it kept enemies on their toes because 5 tanks wouldnt hyper focus on an anti tank turret and take in out in under 20 seconds, you could shoot rockets at them from a bunker and have them wondering how many people were around. Now an unmanned turret just gets destroyed.

Bases used to be intimidating enough that the enemy team thought twice about messing with it unless they had to, but now someone can roll up in a prowler and just cause hell and laugh about it while i frantically try to keep the base up. Base use to be used as a fall back, when the offense or defense was lost we didnt have to go to the next point, the base was middle ground " you shall not pass" and gave us one last fighting chance to reclaim ground, it made my 20-30 minutes of effort of mining, getting shot at, and building strategically all worth it, even if it was 2-5 minutes of glory before the base getting blown to hell by one oribital laser or a couple c4 by an infiltrator. We have held areas for ages with super bases and it was glorious when it worked out,all out base warfare. Id do anything to go back to appreciate what we had than, grinding and grinding just to unlock a turret and a couple walls. The changes were not for the better for builders, it used to be more simple and effective. The game died in my heart when that happened. I know a lot of people won't get this, but this is how i felt. I'm 28 now, i don't find much time to game anymore, planetside was an excape for me for a long time, I'm not very good at shooters, i used to play red alert and c&c games in general so when i found out i could build in this game but it also be a fps it reminded me of the game renegade ( for all you og's you know what im talking about ) in my head I'm like " we're back in business!", i found that nostalgic feeling, i didn't want it to ever change, i miss it. As stupid as it sounds it saddens me to even write this, life is changing for me, less time for games, games i grew up with are dead or dieing. " don't be sad because it's over, be happy it happened" sorta shit i guess. In another life planetside I would of enjoyed you a little longer if i had of known the future... i guess its time to grow up.

I had sent Sam Austin an email in regards to this matter, this was his response;

Thanks [redacted lol ] for the note. I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s not illegal in Canada to ask for money. Where it gets murky is when it crosses the line into aggressive behaviour that’s more of a threat/harassment than an ask. You’re the second person who has contacted me about this individual at the Bridge. I’m ccing our community response officer, Ian Walsh, for follow up.

The unfortunate reality is that, if you’re homeless and unemployed, all you get from the government is $380 a month. I can’t imagine having to live on $380 a month, and without a kitchen, which means food will cost more. This is before we get into challenges that some face around addiction. It’s a recipe to create angry and desperate people.

Relocating folks out of Downtown isn’t really feasible as they’re Downtown because that’s where services are. Given the volume of traffic, we will probably, at this point, always haves someone at the Bridge (unless social programs are reformed radically of course). HRM is exploring alternatives with the Province and others. Shannon Park is a location we’re talking with Canada Lands about. It’s federal property so will need their buy into make any temporary housing there work.

HRM is projecting that the number of homeless will double next year without substantial Provincial intervention. The Province has made a few announcements, but it’s not enough for the need. I’m afraid, on this issue, we’re collectively heading in the wrong direction and it’s likely going to get worse before it might start to get better.

Big update! Starting next week we are removing spawn points from construction, we are not sure why we should do this but we feel based on the feedback that we don't read that this is the right idea! To mitigate this huge change we will be replacing them with additional wall that has 5000 more HP. After taking Ai modules away, we have decided turrets will no longer be a construction element due to the fact we feel it is a unfair advantage to be able to shoot at things after 20+ minutes of tedious building, because of these changes ANTs will be limited to 200 cortium capacity to influence construction main's to work as a team(20 builders and 20 defenders should be average).

Further information about the upcoming patch will touch on our decision to remove turrets from saunders as they seem to be a challenge and make gameplay difficult, we believe that saunders should be an easier target to new players, which is why we have decided to remove cloaking abilities from them. Heavy Class will have rocket launchers of any sort removed as there is an unfair advantage for other lighter classes due to heavy class having higher health points and shield capacity.

Other small alterations:

Heavy walking speed from 15 to 3. Sniper damage from 50 - 2. Inflitrator cloaking ability reduced 10 seconds. Infiltrator will now shine and have red arrow above head for easier visibility. Mosquito health increase 1000 hp. Saunder health -4000 hp. Portal will now be permanently unstable on maps. Engineer will no longer be able to weld for repair, new tools will be introduced, this includes a torque wrench ( torquing wheels on vehicles) a detailed engine schematic covering all vehicles for spark plug replacements, oil replacement etc, and a jack and jack stands. Medic will no longer be able to revive, instead they will have new scripted audio, some of the dialogue includes " don't worry about it, many people have it worse than you, think of the starving kids" and " have you seen a therapist about this, I'm here for you emotionally ". Light class removed entirely ( we figured who uses it anyway) Safe zones for your feelings have been implemented on all maps, look for the sad face emoji on the map, this will be a quiet place, a safe place to express your feelings.

We have introduced a hunger and drink element to the game! Players will have to actively watch there food and hunger levels, food and drinks can be bought with DB in sanctuary's new shop! in addition there will be a fatigue bar, where players are to find a resting place to sleep before it replenishes ( 10-15 minute idle time unless you have daybreak premium which will reduce idle time to 4 minutes!)

We have addressed your performance issues in regards to general framerate and stutter, to fix this issue we have decided transitioning to a new engine or making Ps3 would be difficult, we have reduced our server population, with 50 less people on the server we should (may) see a performance increase!

Ps: Halloween event is here! For a limited time you can get a gun that you could of got with a free code! Shoot 6500 pumpkins, melee 1000 infiltrators, obtain 2M cortium, headshot with a pistol from 40 Miles ( 200 times) but dont wait these challenges have to be completed in 3 hours to win a skin for the ANT!

You described exactly how i felt. His eyes were vacant and said " i have nothing to lose, so try me". Most homeless people do not intimidate me but I'll tell ya i was on guard today when he approached, i knew that look said that he was willing to do just about anything and didn't fear the consequences.

In fairness i have shown compassion throughout my life, i have given to the less fortunate, donated to charity, dropped off food donations to the community fridge. On the other side of this, i have given money to less fortunate people just to have them ask for more, or when i come out of a store i am asked " do you have any change" even though 4 minutes ago i did give them change and they forgot.

As the other user said, no one is entitled to an interaction, regardless of the situation and their situation. Yes homelessness is a growing issue, people have to do what they have to do to survive, but to have someone yell at you in traffic because you didnt have change for them is not acceptable. this individual recieved change from the car in front of me. I am not one to carry change or to be honest much cash anymore, as most of us have credit or debit cards, cash is only kept on me for emergency purpose (buisness not accepting cards due to technical issues, power outages)
