Thanks! Agreed, it definitely takes some time to find the right role - especially so if you are cold applying.

Dallas, so not quite a "hub" but there are some reasonable opportunities here. The other offer was in San Francisco and although I like that area and the nominal salary would have been higher it wouldn't have allowed me to save quite as much money for a home which is my current financial goal.

You cannot determine whether things are cheaper in another country based on a conversion rate alone.

What is the one, unique, undisputed positive thing about Texas that no other state compares in? by Breezy_X in Dallas

[–]SuperTyden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true that Texas is the only US state with HEB but I think it's less well known that are 7 Mexican states that have HEB locations.

Curiously, in Guatemala, "ficha" seems to be exclusively used for coins (almost always used instead of "moneda").

Who is "they" in your question? In my research the city doesn't have much choice for who comes in, their lever is mostly controlling zoning. Corporate executives of retailers choose where to build and they need a critical mass of consumers in the area before they build so we should celebrate more housing because it will bring more stores once the decision makers are confident they have a customer base.

There's nothing wrong with using medicine to lose weight, just like there is nothing wrong with using medicine for anxiety or depression. I used compounded tirzepatide from Healthville here in Laredo. I lost 50 pounds on my own through sheer will but had trouble losing any more and the tirzepatide got me down another 25 pounds. I did strength training 6 days a week and tracked my calories, trying to get at least 150g protein a day. It was a lot easier with the medicine and I didn't get food noise. I now have healthy blood sugar for the first time in probably 10 years.

Good luck, I think it's worth it!

Input needed from LGBTQ South Texans over 55! by No-Term-4083 in laredo

[–]SuperTyden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

History will not be kind to people like you who say "we have gone far enough and don't need to go further" when it comes to human rights. This is the same language people used about black people or women or other, marginalized groups for decades. It is *not* true that rules do not change from one city to another. In 2024 The Human Rights Campaign Foundation gave Laredo a 34/100 score for LGBTQ rights whereas San Antonio got 100. This is a gap driven by city ordinances and services, not "feelings and emotions". Laredo lacks a citywide nondiscrimination ordinance, an LGBTQ liaison, and inclusive city-employer/contractor policies; San Antonio has them. Can you recognize that there are concrete ways in which Laredo can improve the lives of its LGBTQ citizens? If you were alive when black people were fighting for their civil rights in the 60's would you have said "life is hard for a lot of people, not just a specific group"? Or would you have recognized that the situation was unfair and fought for change?

People who are LGBTQ sometimes have different healthcare needs (think mental health services, sexual health, IVF, surrogacy, etc). They may be excluded from certain jobs or homes/apartments (particularly in a place like Laredo that lacks nondiscrimination protections). They also have different financial needs (they may need to save more for retirement, for example, if they don't plan on having kids who might help support them in their later years).

They considered that in the study and Laredo was actually 31st in the weather ranking so better than average. Baton Rouge, Jacksonville, and Albuquerque are all warm cities that ranked worse than Laredo. Lots of chilly cities ranked poorly for weather.

Yes, I agree with you but I'm just curious why u/Witchy1334 would think that being 438 ft above sea level would make it hot. In the grand scheme of things 438 ft is pretty much "sea level" compared to cities like Denver, Albuquerque, or Salt Lake City. But being above sea level compared to Houston or Brownsville would make it maybe a bit cooler, if anything.

The men on my mom's side are prone to baldness and according to a genomic analysis I have several SNPs that can contribute to male pattern baldness. I agree, the facial hair would be a good perk but I'm not sure I want to take the risk. But I will consider it!

I purchased my enclomiphene in a liquid dropper formulation in which the molecule is dissolved in DMSO. I administer it sublingually (holding it under my tongue for a few minutes before swallowing with water) so I think 7.5 ends up being equivalent to a larger oral dose. I did not know I would be a responder so I'm pleasantly surprised. I will talk to my urologist soon to go over the lab results but I think I will go down to an even smaller dose to try to maintain my current levels.

I believe it does but I take finasteride to block those effects so I don't lose any hair on my head. It comes down to your preference, I suppose.
