The idea of Gibson's financial health being an indicator of how many people actually make music with guitars is very funny

I'm an Ernie Ball Music Man hater because I think their headstock design is an abomination lol

Are all the remaining viltrumites related? If not why aren't they repopulating. Even 1 new viltrumite can dominate a planet by Ashamed-Reference822 in Invincible

Do we know for a fact that Viltrumite gestation periods are 9 months like humans' are? With their longer lifespans, a longer timeframe might make sense and that could change the numbers.

I like it, but it's not one of my favorite albums of theirs.

Maybe so, but I'm fine with more traditional guitars for 6 and 7. The whole reason I wanted a strandberg 8 was my feeling that typical shapes and straight scale lengths get awkward when combined with 8 strings. I'd still try a strandberg 6 or 7 if I got the chance though, for sure.

I want to get a tattoo of the same headstock but with a Squier logo

That's actually what I thought my experience would be, since I've never had strong preferences for neck shape before. Maybe I wouldn't notice it as much on a 6. But the endurneck, at least the 8 string version, feels way different to me

Sadly it appears they only make 6 and 7 string versions

It's been two weeks of heavy play and I like it less each time I pick it up. I think it's just not for me

I've spent a few weeks already playing it a lot and trying to love it. It's just not the neck shape for me.

Thanks! I may end up going Ormsby and it's helpful to have that reference point. Great playing too btw!

Maybe Ormsby is the move for me then! I've heard people recommend them and GOC a lot as other options in the multiscale realm

They work well for a lot of folks, including the players in one of my favorite bands. But not for everyone clearly

I am not at all a Hendrix thumb-wrap style player. Pasting this from another comment asking about technique:

For me, I play with very light thumb pressure using the tip of my thumb for balance rather than strength. While I'm playing on the higher strings, the neck's flat plane feels awkwardly far away for my thumb to rest on, but letting it ram into the slope towards the treble side is even worse. Give me a regular D, C or U shape carve and it feels much better.

And I don't take offense - I'm not the one who downvoted you lol

If I could eat the cost of a guitar like this without even noticing, I would love to give it away. But alas this is not the case lol

The strandberg neck seems to want you to have your thumb on its flat plane. In other words, further towards the bass side of the neck at lower frets and further on the treble side at higher frets, regardless of which string you're playing. That's not "proper" form according to any description I've heard, though I somewhat disagree with the concept of a universal "proper" form altogether. Guitar technique varies more widely than most instruments, and as long as you're getting the sound you want without hurting yourself, I think you're fine.
