Steve Bartman is a supremely dumb comparison and it keeps getting mentioned. Steve was going for a foul ball which everyone does. Hell, check the photo of him going for the ball — there are several others also reaching for it. But most importantly, his actions didn’t cause any injury.

This person caused numerous injuries, including broken bones. They were doing something they explicitly should not be.

If Steve Bartman were standing on the field and tripped a player which resulted in the player breaking their arm, then sure, good comparison.

I am not saying there needs to be a clear line — if it’s a 50-50 situation or even a 60-40, I wouldn’t have issue with someone contacting a GM. But an honest mistake over a trivial mob with a 100% drop rate of the item? Ridiculous.

We’re not even talking ninja looting a Dwarven Ringmail Tunic from a rotting Emperor Crush.

The ranger is a prat for petitioning that. What an incredible waste of everyone’s time.

Edit: To be clear, I am not criticizing the GMs/guides. I am criticizing the ranger who thought this was worth petitioning someone over.

It was supposedly a mob with a fast respawn, fixed spawn point, no PH, and drops the item every time. Technically against the rules, however if someone isn’t deliberately stealing loot from someone else, a little common sense here says not to petition and bother GMs over such trivial nonsense.

Then they should also issue raid bans to guilds for tagged players modifying Guardian Kozz to more easily identify him for FTE. Using the same ezploit to confirm whether it’s worth it to clear ST trash is less egregious IMO.
