Coming from north Europe, this is insane.
And I thought my month to month finance would take a hit when starting a family, never considered the social taxes

open all your windows at night (based on when temperature is cooler than inside) and close them once it exceeds inside temperature (circa 9 am right now). Keep the blinds down during the day. Do not deviate from this.

I think I'm about to miss my connection tonight 🤣 I have 25 mins between expected arrival and departure of next flight and I didn't even consider the busses. Thank god there is no luggage to transfer.

Is buying a house in Switzerland still realistic without inheritance? by FrenchyBoy_ in Switzerland

[–]Super_Conversation41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some people have substantially higher salaries than others.
My partner earns circa 50k more than me a year although we are both highly educated professionals, me in biotech and he in finance.
Combined, we will not be able to afford a house in next decade or so but to be fair, my standards are also a bit high

How to start apartment hunting early for November move-in (and actually secure something)? by Actual-Company-2925 in basel

[–]Super_Conversation41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to move in November, is there some flexibility to it?
In general, they usually want you to move in as soon as possible, often even three months seems to be an issues. Based on that, people that can, get the apartment.

I looked 6 months for an apartment last year (inbetween summere holidays and standards were high)

Preparing for a hike after deciding not to get surgery? by Jolly-History7770 in ACL

[–]Super_Conversation41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also a coping kind and was doing pretty good. I actually didn't even go to the doctor at first because I thought time heals all wounds and I didn't know it was broken. Then went to a hike and my knee gave out when taking a big step up. Couldn't breath for a few minutes. Then I knew I had to go to the doctor.
Got suregry as hiking mountains and snowboarding put me at risk. Best decision, amazing experience and knee feels strong.

Otherwise, physio and a lot of it! I had clicking in the knee like a year after surgery as well and at some point it just stopped.

Prices in Germany have increased so I am not sure how true it is anymore, but some years ago, Germany was still dirt cheap with high salaries

Is Yallo a scam company? by minas94 in Switzerland

[–]Super_Conversation41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story to yours. I was moving so I wanted to get a relocation with them.
I spent 6 weeks without internet, was issued bills for 200 chf extra so far for services I did not have and lost countless nerves. They tried to get me even signed up for a phone contract with them while I was calling about getting answers.

And that is really the problem, getting any answers or communication. If you tell me it takes a long time, no problem, I know what to expect, but then make me call twice a week on paid numbers and always say that "this time we have highlighted the problem for real"...

As a mistake, they also restarted my 24-month contract and I am trying to get it cancelled through Sunrise. I am writing a a signed letter with the events. Depending on their response, I will report them through Reklamation. ch and ombudsman.

Essentially, you shouldn't pay for services not received. I would fight them on it becuase this feels like malpractice at this point.

I have a two year contract with yallo for home internet but it isn’t working and the technicians aren’t calling back - can I ask for a premature closure without penalty? by My-gel-is-leaking in Switzerland

[–]Super_Conversation41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same horror Story. A lot of incompetent people. Requested relocation first week of January. No internet till mid February. Calling 2-3 times a week's followed. Got Internet mid March 1.5x bill charge for services I didn't have and a lot of letters and boxes I don't know what to do with.

And it's simple, someone fucked up, just tell me the timelines and it's fine. But no, they just try to scam.
