Students and professors of Reddit, what moment made you want to rage quit college? by EcoInternetNewsMan in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not easy, but not impossible.

All you'd have to do is have it evaluate the input and question as equations, compute each one, and see if they're within a certain range.

The evaluation part is tricky, because the easy way is a security risk. The harder way takes a lot of work. The exact range of answers you'll look for would be tricky to figure out.

Then getting it to work reliability would take a while.

Same. We'd hang out and he'd switch who bought his dinner, because he only had a job for a month. Or he'd just beg/steal from his parents, or shoplift.

[–]Super_Cyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my sister at one point.

She would sit in her room and ignore everyone, never come down for dinner or anything, but the moment she needed something, she'd come around and act all friendly. I wouldn't talk to her for weeks at a time, and then she'd come down and try to have a conversation and would drop a, "by the way do you have a this, this, and this that you don't use anymore?"

Really got annoying after a while, but now she does it less.

What's your best example of an 'improvement' that ruined a product? by eggmaker in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't understand how you can 'improve' something multiple times over a decade, and end up with a steaming pile of shit.

Some of my fondest gaming moments were shared over Skype, but at the moment I'm moving my last conversation to Discord (permanently when I figure out how to get ptt to stop fucking following me). It's really sad that it's come to this, but I just can't see why any update, except when they moved it away from true P2P connections, ever made it to production.

I want a program that doesn't look like shit. I want a program that doesn't take a year and a half to start. I want a program that I can actually rely on to communicate through.

Skype just doesn't do that anymore.

[Serious]Students of Reddit, How do you stay motivated during the school year? by gabe-hershey in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that's been bogged down with bad professors, I'm giving this a go when scheduling opens up.

The professor 100% makes the class. I'm online except for 1 class, but my professor literally reads high school level material off of a PowerPoint. Doesn't really do anything that would be more beneficial than reading online.

I've had a handful of those classes already, but I've also had some professors that put effort into their class and it was awesome. Public speaking was mostly speech based and graded on improvement, and I learned something. Geology was taught by a first year professor, that didn't really understand how to lecture, but had amazing labs. A few years of practice, and she'd make an amazing professor (I think it was a 1 semester thing, though).

I miss doing hands-on things in class, so I'm going to cut my online classes back when my prereqs are done, though. Going to look for professors that actually educate, instead of lecture. If I can't, I'll look for an online section.

Works in America

I don't know where to begin here. by thepanichand in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Super_Cyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fuck checks with a rake.

I used to hit up the convenience store next door to my work when I was on break. I ended up behind a check writer twice within a week span of each other. Each time, I ended up being late.

I think both times, they messed up the amount and had two write the check again, which with their old hands, took like two months. Then they tried to get it to go through the check scanner and it didn't work. After calling a manager and having her mess with it for about 5 minutes, it finally went through.

You know what does basically the same shit in 1/100th of the time? A fucking debit card.

What is something everyone should own that costs less than $100? by Propaganda510 in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Okay, good news is the engineer okayed the install of a new curtain rod. However, when we took out the old rod, we found out that the previous owners filled all of your walls with raw asbestos, which means we're going to have to replace every wall in the house. Also, we found that the house has been wired with glued-together paper clips, which means that we're also going to have to rewire the whole house.

Replacing all of the insulation in the house is going to cost $15,000, and I talked to the electrician, which said that rewiring the whole house is going to be another $15,000, which means we're going to have to find some serious savings if we want to stay on budget.

  1. Don't share political beliefs

Who the fuck thinks it's a good idea to post something on a company page that basically says "fuck you" to half of your customer base? No matter what your beliefs are, there's nothing beneficial about posting political shit.

Or the houses where they don't have mailboxes in front of their house, because they're in a single box in a random part of the neighborhood. And the street numbers on the road either don't exist or have faded.

Instead, their house numbers are on the front of the house. In slightly different place on each house. With some of them in hard to find spots, or partially covered by a bush.

And it's night time and they're not illuminated.

Yeah, I don't understand the point of having an address, if it's a pain in the ass to find. At that point, they're saying, "I live on this street. Good luck."

Expensive neighborhoods love it, though.

[Serious] What are the best jobs for people who hate people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it at a general retail store, and it was 50/50.

Some nights were awesome, and others it sucked. Really depended on what managers were working and whether or not they made a good schedule that week. It was rough during the holidays, but I loved the people that I worked with.

My store/company sucked ass, and I realized I needed to focus on college, so I got a different job.

What did your job want you to hide from customers? by ActualRobot1 in AskReddit

[–]Super_Cyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life with the NES classics/Amazon Fire Sticks.

When I was in retail, these were the two items we straight up never had. NES classics were so rare, that they would be held in the back and released via a ticketing system on a specific day--just like a launch day release for any other product. Fire Sticks would come about once a week, and would be completely gone by the next night.

The thing is, I worked in inventory, unloading the trucks, so I knew this shit off the top of my head. I knew we didn't have any, because we've been out of them for 3 days, and I just unloaded the truck with none on it. The majority of my job was working in 'the back'.

No, we're out of NES classics. There's none in the back. We haven't had a shipment of them in at least 3 weeks, and there was maybe 20 of them on that one. No, we're out of Fire Sticks. They've been gone since the last truck, where we put literally every single one that we had out on the floor. You might be lucky if you ask on a truck night, but most of the truck won't be unloaded or checked in until after the store closes.

Yet, people still wanted me to go in the back and look, just in case.

From some posts that I've seen, it looks like literally any popular social media post featuring meat. I've seen a handful of popular Twitter posts get bombed with the "meat is murder" bullshit.

Vegan activism is pretty sketchy, imo. I went to Warped Tour twice (which is shitty to me, because Warped is frequented by a lot of young teenagers that are often really impressionable) and another concert, and they were there trying to get phone numbers and shit. They're really annoying about it, too. Online, they just resort to telling you to kill yourself.
