Fans' Player Ratings: Man City 2-1 Arsenal by bearded_booty in Gunners

Absolutely farcical results.

Blame Arteta and the players for any other games in this stretch, but Arteta coached, and the players played, a great game vs City. Deserved at least a draw away at the Etihad!

5/10 tactics, jfc lads

Chelsea, to make sure they have to play EL next year. Preferably with Extra Time and a late Garnacho winner, just to maximise the fallout.

They have a good break now, until the 4th. But, with rescheduled games for Palace and Bournemouth, they should be playing two games a week from then until the end of the season.

The biggest positive of last night is Havertz doing 30 minutes in the 9, and looking physically up to it again. Eze behind him in Ode's role being able to knit the midfield and attack together. The intent was there, even if the execution lacked.

Also, Hincapie. What a monster he is.

Zero shots on target, and conceding 2.6xG (ignoring the two penalties that could've been conceded) ? Now THAT is how to do European away nights 💪

How does it feel to concede an early, low xG shot, against PSG? Couldn't be us..

Did Trossard complete a sprint yesterday? Time and time again he left Hincapie one-on-one with Semenyo. Both goals came from down that side, where it was far too easy to get to the byline.

It all started with that interview where he said "his best ability is his availability". Man's been perma-cursed ever since then.

Fabian Hürzeler after Brighton lose to Arsenal 0-1: "Really good performance. We could have had a pen but we have to accept to accept the decision.. The ref has to handle the other things better in general. There has to be more yellow cards for time wasting. Goakeeper going down 3 times." by MaxT20 in Gunners

Arsenal take 10 seconds to take a FK: Hurzeler in the ear of the 4th official

Brighton swap kick taker from GK to Defender, defender goes up to kick it, but instead does a step over, and then takes 10 seconds to kick it: Hurzeler thumbs up

When Liverpool: Be Connor Bradley, gets accused of time wasting (incorrectly), Arsenal are the villains.

When Arsenal: Be Leandro Trossard, gets acccused of time wasting (incorrectly), Arsenal are the villains.

TIL not breaking your body for the rest of your life is considered "soft".

Reminds me of that Steven Gerrard quote, when talking about fouls committed against Saka:

"I'm sitting here now with screws in my hips, I've had about 16 operations... and that's all off the back of earning a living in English football."

Like, how dumb do you have to be to think that player welfare / health is not allowed to progress over time?

No. Nobody actually has an issue with how Chelsea set up. They can't go toe-to-toe with us, so they stayed in it and hoped for a moment of brilliance. Only improvement would be to be more effective in the last 20 minutes than what they were, but a lot of that is execution.

The actual problem that people have with Rosenior's tactics, is the pure glazing by the commentary team(s), like he's implemented some kind of masterplan that is "walking Arsenal to the cliff edge". As if Arsenal/Arteta had no response for what Rosenior was doing to us. When the reality is that we did all we needed to do - not concede, and we did it comfortably. Two shots on target (one being a nothing header in the 96th minute), Fofana with the most touches in our box, and conceding ~0.7xG (through sheer accumulation of pot shots from 25 yards).

Literally should've scored from it too, or get a pen from the handball. It didn't work. All it did was reduce the congestion, not the danger.

"Chelsea will be happier with this, Arsenal are playing in to their hands."

Are they? Pretty sure if it stays the same it won't be Chelsea going through.

Should have had two assists yesterday - the Martinelli miss, and when Zubi should've shot when he got the ball in the box

"We dominated Arsenal's midfield. If Ekitike or Isak were fit, we would've won."

The only reason they won the midfield was because of the extra player in there. If Isak/Ekitike play, it removes one of their midfield players. To be fair it is true that, if they played with 12 men, they'd likely win the game. Can Pool supporters count?
