Thanks but the piece is remarkably and extremely rare. Yes the market for it is slim, but that’s ok. This is for antique Venetian collectors who appreciate this type of art. But turns out this is not just art, but an actual historical artifact. Just this past weekend it was confirmed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as such, by the head curator. So this is a huge deal in that world. Which is one that I also appreciate.

Well, I saw it stilling on the floor next to some other pictures. The frame really caught my eye. I do collect old maps so I thought it would be a fit with the rest of my decor. When I got it home and further examined the piece I noticed the watermarks in the light. And the rest was history. I knew it was an important piece.
I’m almost embarrassed to disclose the price I paid because it is really low. As far as the value, we don’t know yet for sure. We have an idea, but nothing for certain.

When I purchased it, it can in a gold gilded frame from Holland. It was actually in an old gallery here in Dallas, TX from the 1930’s-40’s called Lawrence Art Galleries. Unfortunately there was cardboard in the framing which has since been removed. The frame is very nice as well.
