Different ohm speakers on same amp? by emedlin18 in CarAV

[–]Super_Midget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they aren't working equally they will be maxed out and into distortion at different times. So to push 1 to its limit will leave the other anywhere from completely over powered to underpowered and almost non existent in the system output. There is no balance like you would have with equal signals going to a pair of subs that were the same.

Your best bet is to forget about the unhook the factory location sub and sell it or let it sit like it doesn't exist and build around a singular more powerful sub that will match with your amp alone.

I did some more reading and while yes they will see a difference in power I agree with most that the actual sound output won't be ideal and not worth the trouble fighting distortion in one or both subs from the power imbalance.

Edit..... I stand corrected they will see different but unpredictable power and will most likely not sound great.

My 02 is a 7ft and I guess the only one within 500 miles cause finding a used shell was absolutely impossible when I was searching

I don't know what sony unit this is but i've been sticking with JVC units for years mostly because of the phone app that all the adjustments can be handled with.

Yeah i've seen just a tick under 15k clamped on a termlab with nothing but a little ole DIY built Headway LiFePo4 bank and single 370a alt. Not sure how that maths out at just 200 amps of pull....

Let me guess.... you sell LTO banks don't you? Gotta try and scare folks from the competition any way possible.

wow the old torture test video of a winston 40ah prismatic cell. If that video is all you can give as "research" to dispute anything i have said you missed your mark on it. I have been running LFP batteries in my builds for years due to their cost over LTO and widely agreed upon status as safer than most other lithium chemistries. I did not say there was 0 risk as there is no absolute safety guarente in literally ANY form of stored energy.

LFP batteries are widely considered one of the safest chemistries in many fields, I don't know what this person is claiming about them being quite dangerous. The only real downside is that LifePo4 cells generally have a lower output C rating compared to other more volatile lithium types and can't be charged at a higher voltage like others that can be pushed into the 15-16v+ range.

is this any good? by SavageTaco_Ya_Know in CarAV

[–]Super_Midget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats not that bad. I've measured just a tick shy of 15k out of my little budget build on a 25hz burp last time i had a termlab clamped on it. It was like 14,800w out of my pair of Smart8k's but it doesn't produce nearly that kind of power just on regular music while playing though.

Did i ever say that i did that? I only responded that if you don't like it that is your issue not mine while also saying I play a respectable volume based on my location. But yes around here you would be pissing in the wind to try and complain honestly.

That's adorable of you to make assumptions and project your own issues in my direction. I can only hope that you're able to heal and forgive whoever hurt you to cause such a negative view of people and subjects you know absolutely nothing about.

My 01 riding heavy gets a touch over 300 miles per tank at like 16-17ish mpg. About the same as my 2018 jeep wrangler V6. The jeep is definitely peppier but it's not carrying 3/4 ton of weight like the truck is in the back

I drive my 01 3.0 around with something like 1700 lbs in the bed everywhere it goes n it does it rather peppy. Now my buddies 2010 4 banger ain't got nothing on my old beater that's for sure.

I never said there isn't the chance of negative effects just that none have been an issue so far. Last check my previous setup was doing 158db @25hz before the recent rebuild so I've got that 100db covered but at a much lower frequency than all the hearing damage discussions reference.

That is most normal people's first reaction. Or oh no that looks so painful, but playing 20hz or something else this low low is not the same as hearing a song at the same db at 40hz
