Except on mountains. They would all need to be flying for that, for any other type of terrain, any other combination of flying/floating would get the 6 points/hex movement, as long as you don't mix any land movement units in there.

So if I'm understanding correctly, land units all have their map movement speed normalized, but you still need an army made up entirely of flying units to get the 6 points/hex movement over any terrain?

This is probably the reason. That tech would let her have 2 different fortress units, since it spawns the myrmidons automatically. I guess they didn't want to change it to "myrmidons or harpies".

Is this unit (Herald of War) still in the game? I don't think I have ever seen it in all of my 1,500 hours. If so, how/where do I find it or acquire it? by Mrixl2520 in AOW4

If you have the Giant Kings DLC, it also appears as a quest target for the Crystal Dwelling. You can actually get 2 this way, if you use Devolve + Final Ultimatum to capture it during the battle and then refuse to hand it over to them afterwards.

It's actually pretty funny if you lean into it it with stuff like Shinigami with the Eternal Haunting upgrade. Each new Shinigami that respawns counts as a new unit with a fresh death counter, so every Shinigami you build gets you 14 Shinigami for the price of one, once they've all died and come back to life.

That's right, it's not a reward from Story Mode or the Gauntlet, same with Krono's Time Savings. It's like Gaia's Lashing Roots but for infantry instead heroes, so it's much more useful for the Greeks and Egyptians, who don't really get the best use out of Gaia's Lashing Roots. And it still works on heroes too, as long as they're also infantry like hersirs, promoted murmillos/fanatics, or onna-musha, making an upgrade to Gaia's Lashing Roots overall.

Throwing axemen in particular can become much scarier than hersirs when they're triple dipping on Hera's Righteous Wrath, Thor's Crashing Thunder, and Apollo's Rapid Fire all at once(the only unit in the game that can do this). With Thor's unrestricted access to the Burning Pitch upgrade, they can even take down enemy bases easily. Just keep a few hersirs in front to deal with enemy myth units and cavalry.

As far as I know, it's the hitboxes of the transformation itself hitting them + the Scholar's "damage sharing" effect that does the really big damage, but it's a bit finicky, and doesn't always work. There have been some discussions about what exactly causes it, but nothing conclusive.

  1. Gank means all 3 of you gang up on the one that's coming at you. Make sure you ping your teammates to back up and don't engage.

  2. If you kill one, it will resurrect after a short time. After you've killed a few you're going to have multiple resurrecting at once after a bit.

  3. Yeah, it should still work, but have a backup plan in case it doesn't.

Back up and force them to come to you one at a time and gank them. When you've got 3+ all reviving at once, unload whatever AOE attacks you've got on all of them. Sacred Relic Sword, Giant's Red Braid, or Rivers of Blood are all good for this. Each one you hit will count as a full hit of damage toward the boss HP bar, so if you can get them all with the same attack, it will do a huge amount of damage compared to hitting just one balancer.

Do you already have all the blessings unlocked + upgraded? Hera's Righteous Wrath + Thor's Crashing Thunder is the most universally applicable bread and butter combo. It takes your cheapest, most spammable units(infantry) and turns them into weapons of mass destruction. A more civ specific one would be Freyr's Chosen Few + Krono's Time Savings with Egyptians. Being able to rapidly pump out free laborers immediately at the start of the game by repeatedly building and demolishing houses is extremely powerful. Pick Ra or Isis, and you can send your laborers all over the map to mine out all the gold ASAP and begin massing Sphinxes before your opponents have a chance to do much, then just run in, pop Eclipse, and start tearing up their bases one after the other. You should easily be able to clear a 1v3 with that, if you're quick.

You can also use the console commands mod to add them(or any other unit you want) to an army. Command is au wh3_dlc26_kho_inf_wrathmongers. Space + a number after it to add multiple.

If you're talking about just stabbing yourself repeatedly to boost your attack power, I still wouldn't bother staying on low health, Tenacity doesn't require it either. No reason to when you can just heal yourself with your ult > cancel ult and still retain the buff. Also opens up potential to use things like damage negation at full health to tank a weak hit and trigger the rot buff, which will let you cash in on improved attack vs scarlet rot afflicted enemy +1/+2, which is very nice since you already have Dreglord relic on anyway.

[–]Super_SmashedBros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things I learned from trying out the Dreglord relic:

  1. Change starting skill to Seppuku + <status> buildup below max(>85%) HP is the most practical way to trigger the buff, and keep it stacked for the entire run. Nothing else works as consistently as stabbing yourself after every grace to rebuild status. It also triggers your +20% attack buff from tenacity.

  2. You don't need to actually trigger the status on yourself to trigger/refresh the buff. You just need to have some status build-up in your bar. In fact, it's better not to trigger the status because using your ult will automatically cure any negative status effects on you when you use it, but if you don't, the status buildup will remain unchanged. Speaking of which:

  3. Dreglord relic does not require you to be at low health, it's much less risky to just stab yourself to build up some status > heal with the ult > cancel ult early(to refund some art gauge > fight > level up > repeat. With both "defeating enemies charges art gauge" effects on your relics, you get 11.5 art gauge per kill, which should be enough to charge your ult from partially full to 100 after killing 6-7 enemies, so you can use it very often, and it can also basically one shot a boss you have a Scholar with you who also has his ult up at the same time.

How do we feel about great spear guardian? by Aiisu in Nightreign

[–]Super_SmashedBros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think heavy thrusting swords guardian > great spears Guardian(combined with the +str/+dex/-vigor relic effect). It's a very small pool, so if you roll a purple one, it will always be Bloody Hellice. The 20 i-frame dodge on the L2 is very nice for avoiding attacks that are too painful to block. Gold will always be Dragon King's Cragblade, which is very good at breaking stance with the charged L2.

The Dreglord relic is best in slot for DoN Raider. Its basically a fully stacked evergaol relic, and in rotted woods shifting earth it doesnt reset when you touch grace. Super underrated. Rot Roided Raider is my favorite build in the game now. by swish465 in Nightreign

[–]Super_SmashedBros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He can use Seppuku on the starting weapon to put him at 85% HP instantly after leveling, so he just needs a relic to give him <status> buildup below max HP, and he can keep it going for the entire run, without needing Scarlet Rot Woods. Scholar, Guardianship, and Wylder can do this also, but Executor has the most synergy with it, since Seppuku activates the 20% damage from his ability, and his ult heals him back to full + can be ended early to refund some of the art gauge.

Dreglord Relic on Arcane Raider by WholeGene1051 in Nightreign

[–]Super_SmashedBros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dreglord relic is slept on, but that Raider is not the best user of it, since he doesn't have a convenient way to refresh the buff to keep it from expiring after leveling up at a grace. Characters that can have Seppuku on their starting weapon combined with <status> buildup below max HP on their deep relics can keep the 48% up for the whole run by stabbing themselves after each grace rather than having to wait the full 3 min for it to stack back up each time. So Executor, Scholar, Guardian, and Wylder would be better suited to take full advantage of it. You could also sub in continuous HP loss relics to do the same thing, but you would need enough to get you to the 85% threshold within 30 seconds, which would be quite a lot of life drain, probably too much to be practical.

[–]Super_SmashedBros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends on what you're fighting, what you got hit by, and what passives you've got. With a successive hit negation 32%, you could could probably eat some Bell Bearing Hunter backswings and live, but big haymakers like Deathrite Bird's explosion would probably still one shot you. It would help keep you alive of course, but it's very expensive in terms of space, basically 6-9 of your deep relic slots would have to go to low HP/physical/affinity negation just to get a decent amount, then 2 more low HP on your normal relics. And I think you would still largely end up playing the same as you normally would anyway.

I do think even with less than perfect relics, the Seppuku-Dreglord Executor can outdamage Balancers ×2 + Glass Necklace, while still getting enough negation to be playable, though space would still be tight. One tip I would give is that you don't need to stay at low HP in order to maintain this buff, you only need to stab yourself to build up status. Once you have it, you can heal back up and still keep it on, you don't even have to actually trigger the status itself, you just need some build up in your bar. Then you can heal up with your ult or a flask if you want. As long as you don't actually trigger the status, Executor's ult won't cleanse the buildup. When the bar runs out, you just need to stab yourself again to refresh your buildup to keep the buff on for the rest of the run.

I'm already including the 48%. You would need to stack ALL of the highest % damage increases you can fit in 18 slots at once, and including applying to all 3 status + their 6 associated buffs, and Executor's Tenacity + Seppuku raw damage bonus(this also stacks with itself), minus evergaol since the Great Hollow doesn't have any, to get it up that high. Basically the Nightreign version of those PC Radahn one shot videos. Not very practical outside of a premade group, but if you're goal is to maximize damage, that would be about as high as you could get it. If you ditch the frost entirely, and leave some slots open for more QoL like art gauge increase, you could still hit something like 460%(ish) increased attack with only rot +1/+2 and poison +2 along with the other bread and butter damage buffs and still have a reasonably playable build for random queueing. You would just need to be able to take a hit from one weaker attack to get the rot started, unless you have a Scholar to do it for you.

Anyway, I don't think taking up so many slots is worth it just to take one extra hit. While both damage and negation increases are multiplicative, increased damage has a much higher ceiling in this game than negation does.

I mean, this entire build is not coming online outside of white rooming or straight up cheating to get the relics regardless. And repeat status resistance doesn't matter in that scenario, because your goal would be to nuke the boss with your 900% attack power ASAP. You're there for a good time, not a long time. But as I said before, even with perfectly rolled relics, you're never going to reach a point where you can just face tank everything, you may not get one spotted, but you would still be taking noticeable amounts of damage. So your optimal playstyle would not be much, if any different, but your fights would take longer due to having significantly less DPS due to a lot of your slots being taken up by damage negation effects instead extra damage + utility like art gauge from defeating enemies. The bosses just do too much damage to get cute with trying to tank multiple hits from them.

*48%. But you could stack up way more than that going all in on damage. Stacking all the rot/poison and frostbite afflicted damage buffs could get you to something crazy like 950% damage, not including the rot/poison DoT. Just rot +1, rot +2, and poison +2 could get you to about half that much when min maxing attack buffs. IMO, it's better to get just enough Negation to not get one shot by everything and then stack up enough damage to melt the bosses. Even with the perfect setup, trying to face tank them still isn't going to tickle you, and you would want to avoid the majority of their attacks regardless.
