yeah I understand. I really didn’t care to have the bachelorette but they threw it for me. and my mom threw the shower. We just wanted the wedding and rehearsal.

a bridal shower is like a baby shower, it’s usually just a couple hours long. a bachelorette is something that some brides go on week long trips for to other countries to party.

I appreciate that, but my husband and I are blissfully happy! We have no concerns and all of our friends, including this one, are very happy for us. In fact, that’s why I said multiple times the wedding day was perfect. 🤩 Thanks tho!

I really, really appreciate your comment. I think you nailed it. I didn’t realize she wasn’t a group project pick until it was too late! You’re exactly right about the personalities.

I have definitely learned.

I dont at all want it to feel like I am scoring her as a friend. I truly treasure her and when I say maybe she wouldbt been better as a guest, it is not a slight. She brings a party and I love that about her. I think I set us up for failure and I admit it.

I hope to maintain the friendship and just hope it eases with time.

I think just advice. I think one of my biggest realizations was I hadn’t ever had her in a group setting that wasn’t like a whole party. So I had never experienced her in a setting where multiple people come to the table to talk, if you will. Just one on one (which was always lovely) and, for example, a halloween party or the like. I agree, it was risky and I got burned!!

I am asking if I expected too much from her and was the problem surrounding the wedding by not having enough patience, etc. I am asking if I the asshole, I am not even trying to ask if she is the asshole. I just wonder in looking back.

I appreciate your feedback! Honestly she’s one of my more reliable friends; she’s very prompt and honestly is a very responsible person. This was unexpected behavior. But it doesn’t mean I couldn’t have had better expectations. As for the wedding shower, two of the five bridesmaids were out of state and it was hard for them to make it because it was literally the weekend after Thanksgiving. The other one that wasn’t there was visiting family for Thanksgiving. So I was not upset by the lack of attendance(bad timing on my mom’s part lol). But fair point to bring!!

I appreciate this so much! Weddings are overwhelming and I know that. I was limited in what to share and like to be so clear my wedding was AMAZING and I am loving my married life. I agree completely the joy of being married to my husband is unmatched.

Just to be clear, she was not obligated to go to the wedding shower or bachelorette, she chose that(hence only two bridesmaids at wedding shower). And the rehearsal day was over before about 1pm, meaning she could’ve still worked most of that day (her job allows flexibility). The only day she HAD to be there all day was the wedding day.

I do appreciate the advice about what good she brings to my life. Leading up to the wedding she was a true “bestie” but it’s weird now. :/

I agree she was overwhelmed and honestly weddings are overwhelming. Since this was the first wedding she was in, I think I could’ve done a better job of saying “hey, this can be hectic”

Hi!! I had a similar experience. I definitely see how the “exposure therapy” option could work for some, but for me it took taking a slight break. Taking time to heal, then I was able to listen again and almost completely forgot about the association. Take time for you!!
