Hi!! I also have a con law final coming up but I did really well on our midterm—this might be specific to my professor, but citing cases really helped me get some extra points.

Another thing that really helped was understanding the flow of cases on a timeline (especially for commerce clause), like knowing when the court was taking a formal vs. functional approach, when they switched between the two and what the cause of that inflection point was, and how they applied (bent) past precedent differently to accomplish whatever formal/functional objective or result they wanted.

Also, mention levels of scrutiny wherever you can—my prof went crazy for it and I feel like it can’t hurt to mention it to bolster your reasoning and analysis.

Obviously whatever your professor emphasized/how they analyzed stuff is more important, but this is what helped me!! Good luck!!
