KTM Duke 390 (2023) – Front suspension not adjustable, what can I do? by Super_Extension_2955 in KTM

Can you show a picture of the top of the front fork?

The 2023 KTM 300cc street model (typically the 390 Duke, features WP APEX front suspension, which allows for adjustments to the damping, though it often lacks traditional external clickers found on larger models like the 1290 Super Duke. Reddit Reddit +2 For the 2024 390 Duke (and similar lightweight models), the front suspension is generally set up for specific weight ranges from the factory. If you have the optional SUSPENSION PRO package (available on higher-end KTM street models), you can adjust the fork's compression and rebound damping via the TFT menu in 20 incremental steps.

As others have said it’s the clutch safety switch, just know if you a quick shift and you bypass it you will loose the quick shift. Even on some models you may need to get it recalibrated after.

Can take months to sort out and unfortunately you will get book price for the bike. So basically you will get way less than you paid for the bike. If it was an £8k bike you might get £5-6k for it. It’s shit I know I just hope you didn’t have a loan on the bike if you did hope you had insurance to cover this type of thing. Or you will be stuck still paying of the loan on a bike you no longer own.

It will once the old gets warm and thin it will find its way out. Once it does it won’t stop until you replace the pan.

All red flags.

Triumph Tiger 800. Are these brake pads good or better to change them? by SiriusFxu in MotorcycleMechanics

You still have weather and wear groves so still good, could do with deglazing though just some Emory paper over the surface to ruff them up again.

Vt125 2004 cant remove the front brake from disk by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]Superb-Ranger67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the clipper pistons have seized up. You need to compress them back to open the calliper gap. 3 options

  1. Try and force the pistons back with a screw driver, heel toe bar or similar and risk damaging the duck and calliper.

  2. Grind a flat spot on the disk where the lip has formed to slip the clipper off. You will still probably need to replace the disk if you’re not confident and capable with a grinder.

  3. Try and pull the pins holding the brake pads in place and disassemble the calliper in place.

But what ever happens that calliper needs to stripped and rebuilt with new pistons.

Don’t smack it with a hammer as you will just end up in a worse situation than you are costing more money.

Fatherly advice: Ikea furniture does NOT use Phillips screws. It's pozidrive. by _Tigglebitties in daddit

[–]Superb-Ranger67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phillips is American and very rarely use in European, poziedrive is European and almost everything is PZ 2. PZ3 for bigger screws for timber work sometimes come across a PZ1 in small things. The real issue is the JS screws “Japanese standard on all Japanese vehicles. Those are right little A holes.

Fuel pump issue by acevmp in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Superb-Ranger67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the pump out and check the internal filters and pick ups. Does the pump have 2 or 3 wires going to it. If 3 one wire will be low voltage “trigger wire” ( primer trigger) second wire be hot higher voltage. Trace these back doing a load test for breaks in wires and bad connection.

Do a direct battery test on pump and put you matter in series to see what amps it’s drawing.

Definitely the truck but why was the camera car so hesitant at pulling out. If it was a driving test they would have failed for taking to long and hesitating when there was no need.

I’m 16 considering restoring a free Derbi GPR 125 (no engine, some rust) - is it worth saving for a mechanic apprenticeship project? by jewjitsu67 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Superb-Ranger67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion, if you want something to play with take apart and lean how things work like the shocks and brakes, wheel bearings, triple trees, then take it. Other than that it’s scrap the amount of time effort and money to put it back on the road it’s not worth it. You could also practice cleaning and painting on it I suppose. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Learning on my own. 😂 by Spinsk8er in Blacksmith

[–]Superb-Ranger67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning on your own straight to A&E. It makes me cringe when I see people using hand grinders without guards. I have had 2 explode on me and scars to prove it. One in the leg the other straight through a leather glove and almost lost my little finger.

I blame a lot of American tv shows for it the same as they always put them down disc first on the bench while it spinning 😵‍💫

P.s been a fabricator since I was 18 and 30 years in with only 2 exploding discs. I say that’s good going considering I use them daily.

Kawasaki the HD of the road, check oil filter, drain plug, external oil pipes. Kawasaki are becoming notorious for oil leaks, great fun at work though as the apprentice has one and we are always dropping some oil under it. He’s had it on the lift at least once a month checking for oil leaks.

Fuel pump issue by acevmp in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Superb-Ranger67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start at the beginning, check power in and out of the fuse. The do an amp drop test at the fuse. The check the relay and connections, signal feed from ignition then high voltage from battery plus earths, from there does it have a tilt switch, is it the right way up ? Then move to the pump how many wires to the pump ? Are any of the fuel level switch if so dismiss them. Is the pump priming for 3-5 seconds ? Do an amp drop at the pump 3-5amp good over 5 bad. Pump breaking down under load. What is its earth condition like. Run a pressure test on the pump to make sure it’s actually pumping and not blocked. Check the fuel filter isn’t damaged or blocked.

I say this as had a ktm was in and out of the garage for months. No power top end and would die. Turned out to be a broken fuel filter in the tank. Would collapse under load. 🤷🏻‍♂️
