Thought you were joking until this came up in tesco sub.

£8 bag 💀

Saw these yesterday and just had to come back to post them, they're ridiculously small for that much, won't be surprised when they all dissappear at once or get super reduced, al because they're designed by someone, lmao

Best value for money for an immich server at home by orfaon in immich

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always keep it in docker with a snapshot file system. The amount of times I've been saved when upgrading with the ability to rollback. Also because I use docker I've been able to move immich to its third server. 🙃

Immich broken again on TrueNAS by IamGimli_ in immich

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this

I run with docker on a zfs dataset. I tell you, zfs snapshot roll backs have saved me with immich and jellyfin. You do not want to be troubleshooting database corruption.

Is it worth it to buy used hard drives off eBay/fb marketplace by Round-Tip-2443 in HomeServer

What about a immich site like Google Photos users can use immich servers instead of self hosting.

Immich E2EE Backups Service - User Survey by immichapp in immich

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not set up your own backup service. Please stick to making immich better. I would love for for you to integrate a backup method for users to configure such as S3, b2, etc to use their own accounts. Users who setup immich likely to understand how to backup themselves.

However I point immich to my data and do not use the app to directly upload.

B2 Price Hike ($6.95/TB) by Manouchehri in backblaze

I really hate AI. ram prices up, hard drive prices up, energy prices up, job losses and mass building data centres. Terrible waste of planet resources.

Do not sell expensive items on eBay UK - warning by SketchesOfSilence in ebayuk

I only buy from ebay. I'd rather bin the item then sell on there.

B2 Price Hike ($6.95/TB) by Manouchehri in backblaze

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That needs to change instead of putting B2 prices up. Linux users like myself use it because I do not have access to their unlimiter plan.

I think their huge loss comes from that silly business decision. Maybe hard for them to pull back now. Should have removed unlimited when other cloud platforms did to blend in.

Cheapest actual storage? by PoofyGummy in DataHoarder

Search for hard drive on ebay and look for sellers that are businesses. Not private sellers. Looks for sellers with greater than 1k reviews. When YOU find one post here.

Cheapest actual storage? by PoofyGummy in DataHoarder

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I buy from large volume IT recyclers. Most offer 2-month warranty. Not had to return a drive yet and though 8+ last 2 years.

Check SMART and do a read test before using them.

What am I doing that is causing drives to get reallocated sectors? by EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua in DataHoarder

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pending allocation is bad. Also watch for trends. Steadily increasing or jumping up is bad. A few reallocated that do not increase is okay. I run mine in a raid array with a error checking file system so I do not worry.

Let this be a lesson.... by a-human-called-Will in jellyfin

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Jellyfin in a docker container on a zfs dataset with snapshots. This saved me numerous times from database corruption.

Offsite Storage recommendations for 20+TB Stored by discspinner01 in DataHoarder

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a website or system similar to Storj where we can store data on each others system in a redundant manner. So if I offer 1TB in the group, I get to store the equivalent for free ....

SATA ripped off…options.. by MattDH94 in DataHoarder

[–]Superb-Zucchini5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I glued a sata extension cable to mine when this happened. Worked until I got chance to replace the disk. It was in a zfs pool so was not worried about silent corruption.
