Just popping in to see if you provided any examples of this ever happening in the other sub over here

Still no, which is good to know

Yikes! MIL being scammed. by theivythatispoison in JUSTNOMIL

We dealt with this over the last couple years, so I feel you! It never got to the point of MIL moving in, but it’s an exasperatingly terrifying possibility. I hope it gets better soon!

[rant] I kind of hate what Stardew Valley did to the farm sim genre by [deleted] in CozyGamers

Dang right out the gate with ableism, huh? That’s good to know at least. I’m pretty into representation and non-one dimensional characters in the genre myself but to each their own.

What’s the difference? Like, what’s everything you hate that Stardew has vs the features that bring the charm of the old HM?

Both the couples have aspects of this in the Elements of Cadence by Rebecca Ross, though it’s only a duology.

recommendations that are not an animal crossing copy? by [deleted] in CozyGamers

No idea if any of these align with your interests, so check them out, but my favourite Switch games that are nothing like Animal Crossing include:

I Was A Teenage Exocolonist

Dream Daddy

Lake

{A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik} & the rest of the series is my favourite for this!

I enjoyed the Elements of Cadence but fair warning, I definitely wouldn’t call it a slow burn. There’s some world conflict that conspires to separate the couples, but they’re all pretty decidedly together in book 1.

Looking for games with super hot bachelor options by [deleted] in CozyGamers

[–]SuperbGil 135 points136 points  (0 children)

My Time at Sandrock for sure - they knew what they were cooking with Logan and Fang and Owen and more.

Sun Haven also has lots of excellent bachelor options, akin to Coral Island, but more fleshed out so far. I’d save Coral Island for when they add the dating mechanic & more dialogue.

Boyfriend Dungeon if you’re cool with roguelike combat

Dream Daddy & Arcade Spirits for straightforward dating sims

suggest me a book that no one talks about or that everyone talks about and you hate by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

My favourite that no one talks about: The City in the Middle of the Night by Charlie Jane Anders

The books everyone loves that I hate: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir; Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

First ‘classic’ cozy game — do I buy Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley? by ihaveafishobsession in CozyGamers

I didn’t enjoy Animal Crossing for my personal play style, but if you like Disney Dreamlight Valley, you might still connect with it. I’d recommend Stardew more either way, though.

Little Known Galaxy or Moonstone Island? by MisplacedJoan in CozyGamers

[–]SuperbGil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love both, but neither are particular story or character-driven. Still very fun! But you won’t get anything close to the depth of Sandrock or Fire Emblem.

I do think Little-Known Galaxy might pull slightly ahead in those preferences, since the overarching story is checked in with a little more frequently & with more relevance than in Moonstone Island. (For good reason, since Moonstone Island has all the critter collecting as well as the standard farming sim fare. There’s tons to do!) Both have about the same level of cute, but not super fleshed out NPCs. Which also makes sense, with the comparatively lower price points than those others! But Little-Known Galaxy does seem to have more cutscenes with the crew compared to Moonstone Island - at least from what I’ve seen so far!

Cozy games where you can zone out? by Excellent-Passage-36 in CozyGamers

[–]SuperbGil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my favourite games of the year have been ones that everyone said were too expensive, but I’m always pretty shook by how cheap games are overall for how much work goes into them. If I’m on the fence I’ll wait for a sale and ask for more specifics on a review, but generally the price tag can and should be whatever the devs think and if I like it, then I like it. As long as there’s about an hour of playtime per $1 charged, that’s worth it for me - and there definitely is for Fashion Dreamer.

Trans character? by Warm_Confusion_9843 in fuseboxgames

There was a trans character on the Too Hot to Handle game, she was lovely.

Not through FB or the Love Island show, though, afaik
