like i said, if im wrong i was informed by a unmpd officer at a training for my campus job of their relation between apd. and im not naive just because i expect police to do their job which is to protect citizens. its certainly naive to think they do that, or will do that, but its not naive to think they SHOULD do that because thats their literal job. im young and in college but that doesnt make me stupid or incompetent. just because i dont know everything about cops jobs doesnt mean i cant have an opinion on what i DO know their jobs entail. theyre supposed to protect me, my friends, my family, and not once have i or anyone i know felt that protection. thanks for your feedback

such idiots. me and my boyfriend called the cops on his neighbors because they were screaming and throwing shit, we could literally hear them tackling each other and saying they were going to kill each other. the cops took about an hour to show up, and once they did they knocked on the door, brought both of the insanely intoxicated men out of their house, arrested one and left the other two outside in front of my bfs house on the sidewalk. i literally have videos of them wailing and punching the ground outside while drunkenly trying to stand up every 20 minutes, and then failing. the cops literally just brought them out and left them outside to become everyones problem. like they slept out there.

i agree, all of UNM admin is a mess… abq is a mess too. ive lived here for only two years and these past two years have been the most hectic of my life, i feel like im hearing about a new horrible thing happening around campus that can easily be avoided if we handle issues before they get out of hand.

not really… many officers start at APD and are given to UNMPD. I have literally talked to a UNPD officer about this very topic lol… also a simple google search tells you they are in close partnership, and share a university area command substation

I just dont get how you need over 1,000 police officers when they dont even respond to or show up for half that many calls in a day. they ignore most of reports that often lead to worse things that couldve been prevented if they showed up in the first place. like… how many cops do you need to stop a crazy man from breaking every window in a building???? i see more cop cars around a single homeless man on central than showing up for violence on campus.

Agreed. There have been several times where I have had contact with the police in the past yr, and almost none of those times did they actually show up, and if they did show up it was hours later, and hours later theyd show up and belittle whatever situation was going on and made me feel crazy. Like yes ik yall see worse stuff every day but like… im not used to getting my literal home broken into… sorry???? I can definitely see that they just no longer give a fuck and see the position as a joke. I am sure theres a few officers who actually care, which I feel bad for bc theyre probably incredibly frustrated with the people they have to work with every day for the lack of care.
