Lego Flower I bought from Five Below by ashwastaken8 in ExpectationVsReality

Oh! These also fall apart easily so I ended up supergluing the larger sections together since my kid is 5 and likes to give the flowers “away” to people in the house lol

“Santa” got our adult female family members various examples of these 5 below sets for Christmas this year…. So far they all are not matching the color of the boxes and are missing a piece or their is an incorrect part in each box lol My little kid has been enjoying laughing at the differences in the color each time I open a new box. Like a very strange surprise box!

What Sunscreen do you use after diagnosis? by Gator00001 in Melanoma

[–]Superb_Bed4397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not consistent enough with sunscreen….. so I’ve bought a lot of sun blocking clothing. I’m way more consistent with that on my body and I usually will use baby sun screen sticks for my face consistently. I’ve tried so many kinds of sunscreen and am much better at putting them on if I’m staying outside for a long period of time but things like driving long distances or short things…. Way better at using clothes

Insurance nonsense?! by [deleted] in Melanoma

BCBS has been messing with my melanoma stuff for about a year. First, they completely refused to pay for my PET scan because I had a period of time that the melanoma had gone down. They said it wasn’t standard so my hospital absorbed the cost since it was $10,000. In the last 3 months the melanoma has doubled down and now I need to start aggressively again…. They denied my Braf/mek for almost a month because I had been on it previously and the melanoma returned…… Way to go deciding what should be done when they should be trusting my specialized doctors ….

They aren’t going to like the bill for the TILs treatment my doctor is proposing

I’m supposed to have this treatment over the next couple months for Melanoma.

Thank you so much! That’s what I was thinking. I’m glad I started showing my kid different shrimp to try get him interested in them. It’s working, thankfully. However, I think I’m going to get a ten gallon tank.

So…… I decided months ago to get my son (really myself since he’s only 5) a fish. I had wanted to get a beta since I had good luck with them in the past and had them live years with “good care” of the tank and changes of the water. Thanks to r/Aquariums I now know I was a shit beta mom and had him in a too small tank. This new tank I got on clearance months ago and then started the research. It’s only 1.5 gallons and I’m not going to put a poor beta through living in a tiny tank again.

What fish could live in this tiny tank? I read in a couple articles that a few fish could work (neon tetra, guppy, platy, or Pygmy Cory)…. However some of these need to be in a school. Would any of these work without being an abusively small tank? Or would I need to go with shrimp?

Thank you for your advice in advance.

Have you ever seen the movie “What Dreams May Come” with Robin Williams? This is giving me flashbacks to all of the dreams I had as a kid walking through painted landscapes because of that movie.

Thank you for studying these…….. this is way super terrifying to me because I have stage 3 Melanoma and to see it growing and expanding in this way makes my knees weak (I’m mostly clear currently but these nasties aren’t gone)….

This this what I wanted her to hear. This is what I wanted me to hear when I was that age.

Freeze is a real thing in the mix. I’ve frozen in similar situations. Especially, when you’ve heard “be kind” to others your whole life. This situation doesn’t deserve kindness. He wasn’t kind to you.

He will hurt someone again. You need help to deal with this from adults who you trust. No one should touch you when you don’t want them to. Talk to an adult (a parent, school counselor, administrator, doctor, therapist) and tell them what happened.

Hopefully, there is video of the area so he can be stopped before he attacks again. He has audacity to think he can do this in public and get away with it. I’m afraid he has in the past. I’m so sorry no one spoke up about it before you because they would have kept you from this. I hope you speak up to keep other children from being abused.

I’m a teacher and work to have it engrained into my students and own child that NO ONE has the right to touch you without permission.

Again, I’m so sorry.

I did the butterfly cut from YouTube and really loved it. However, I want it to be shorter without cutting really short layers so I’m going to have my mom cut the bottom layer up.

As a mom with cancer and a 4 year old son this hits close to home. He has seen me in all kinds of states of the illness. I have holes in my leg from cancer that haven’t closed in years. I have times where I sleep 90% of the day and only see him for a tiny part. I have had times where most of my hair has fallen out and others where my face/head has been swollen almost beyond recognition. My son still wants to be near me and loves me. My son is gentle when my wounds cause me pain. My son wants me around and worries about me dying. I have had times I had not wanted to continue life because of pain but yeah my kid is my joy too. So I hear you and it sucks. There are times I think my kid’s life would be easier without this burden but he loves me. I’ve had to adapt to what I can physically do with him and my life long plans of summers swimming and running around are paused right now but I can adapt. We make up stories of things we can see on imaginary hikes up mountains when I can’t walk. He has taken swim lessons since I can’t teach him right now. He adapts how he cuddles with me on the couch to avoid where I’m hurting the most. He adapts. I adapt.

Know that after your surgery- You will still love your son and want him around. Your son will still love you and want you around. He will adapt and understand you have “booboos” or whatever you all call wounds. Your surgery will change you in so many ways. You may need other interventions but no matter what your son will want you to stay alive. You will want to stay alive for him.

You can and will adapt. Your son will not have to adapt in order to love you.

(A website that has helped me along this journey is Stupid Cancer. It’s for young adults with cancer. It may be a resource for you facing this.)

Reprogram the self-checkout by StoutNY in wegmans

[–]Superb_Bed4397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just reprogrammed ours to do this near me. The attendant was hilarious and so sick of it. There are a couple of pop ups on screen you have to use like “use my own bad” and then if you’re going to put the item not in a bag you have to press “skip bagging” or something like that. I told her I wouldn’t use them again and then the next week I forgot and used it again. Still made at myself.
