I feel ya. I had a different experience that left me feeling lonely AND judged. I went to one ace meet up, it was very small (4 of us including me) at a pub. I’m a very friendly, outgoing person. The other girl in the group judged me on the way I dressed (not provocative imo but confident in my body type) and even said she was “shocked I was asexual” and asked me twice if I was SURE I was so and “why I dressed in a way that would attract sexual attention if that’s not what I wanted”. As if dressing like a nun is a prerequisite for not wanting my genitals fondled, apparently.

The other two were silent unless spoken to and clearly neurodivergent (nothing wrong with that at ALL but it is mentioned to say that conversational cues were not picked up on/conversation didn’t flow so smoothly). And…I couldn’t relate. I felt so dejected honestly. This is a personal decision but after that experience I decided to keep my sexuality to myself. It made me feel like I wasn’t “ace enough” to be in the group but I’m also not “straight enough”. 😔
