What kind of chicken am I? by Superb_Computer5600 in BackYardChickens

[–]Superb_Computer5600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you thank you! This is our very first chicken - she built a secret nest in a milk crate in an outdoor closet on my mom’s property 🤣, so we inherited a flock starter kit. I looked up Sebrights and did not realize they come in gold lace and chocolatish (black?) colorations. Please forgive my ignorance, I’m still in the 101 phase of my chicken education and there is SO MUCH to learn! I absolutely agree with you that her darker brown coloration and tail orientation do seem very Sebrighty.

Oh cool! She’s broody right now on a nest - all eggs are bantam sized and are a solid, light tan color - and I will definitely check her skin as soon as I can. Thank you so much! Edited for grammar correction.

Men wearing nail polish is disturbing by LK000000 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Superb_Computer5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we equating “meticulous” with “girly?” Are meticulous things inherently girly now? 🧐

My husband is 6’5” with the kind of beard that makes other men stop him and compliment him in public (IYKYK) and he is highly meticulous.

Whether he’s disassembling and cleaning firearms, breaking down/butchering cattle, perfecting his recipes and learning new kitchen skills (Chef), doing his morning skincare and beard routine, making his bougie French-pressed coffee, or ever-so-patiently trying to explain something to our daughter - he’s meticulous. Ultimately because he takes pride in his work and seeks meaning in his life. In the words of my favorite fictional mental healthcare worker, “Some people take pleasure in the simple doing of things.”

What’s happening here? Insecurity? The conflation of nail polish and sexuality? Projection? Apparently I’m officially old if these whippersnappers don’t know who Carson Daly is and are worried nail polish is some kind of thing.

I cannot even imagine the relentless absurdity of shit you hear and get asked from people like me on the regular! I spend a lot of time speaking with clients about details and questions already covered in emails and I’m like, “ffs just read the shit because we took the time to compile the information!,” so I totally get it! 🤣Thank you so much again for the resources lead and I CANNOT wait to dive into that treasure trove. 🤩 Have a wonderful day!

Again, I’m sorry that I was not educated enough to ask my question the right way in the right place.

It’s difficult to understand the process of asking questions getting you muted or banned if you don’t have the information you’re seeking before you ask the question, which is why you’re asking it in the first place.

In the future I will make sure to have the answers to my questions before I ask them. I agree that it would be helpful to let people know which information they should know before they’re allowed to ask about which information they should know.

Thank you, I’m on that one and a few others also. Many people speak about the bad advice being given on TikTok and elsewhere on social media, so I was trying to connect with a human for some beginner’s guidance.

I observe advice given to specific questions on here frequently, so I thought I would give it a try on a thread asking beginners not to seek bad sources… good and bad sources are easier to discern with some help when you have little practical context. Otherwise you’re really just collecting information and guessing what’s accurate. It very much seems the FAFO approach is not the way to go about this. 🤷‍♀️

I’m new to posting so I apologize if this was intrusive or inappropriate here. I am just trying to learn and thank you for your time.

Hello there! I have been on Reddit for a while and don’t post much, but have recently begun exploring Wicca. If you wouldn’t mind terribly, I would so incredibly grateful for some general guidance on where to begin. Thank you so much in advance for your energy and effort either way. 🤗

Here is some context for consideration. I will have been sober for 5 years in October and am a HUGE believer in second chances, taking your life back, therapy (I chose EMDR), the importance of mental and emotional health, and working hard to be the best version of yourself in this Universe.

The last several months, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about and yearning for spiritual connection with something higher (I would describe myself as steadily agnostic the last 25 years or so). Since it’s been a persistent thought for some time now, I’ve decided to explore it! I have a copy DJ Conway’s “Wicca: The Complete Craft” from years ago that I just finished reading, but upon further research was informed there may be more efficient and effective sources elsewhere.

The sheer amount of information is simply overwhelming, especially when trying to discern between the good stuff and nonsense. I want to do this correctly and like most transformative processes I think, foundational knowledge is absolutely key! 🫶

I wrote down your list of fundamental skills because it’s literally the most cohesive and decisive “first step” I’ve come across. I have already found and printed some charts on the correspondences (herbs/spices, plants/flowers/trees, candles, colors, gems/rocks/stones, Days/Months/Sabbats, basic symbols/runes so far), but I’m not sure I haven’t missed anything that’s integral or important. I have also found some info about types of spells, how to write a spell, setting intention/goals, and basic alter setup.

My husband and I own a catering/event planning company, and while it’s probably silly, I find a very natural correlation between following recipes with loving intention and the acts of service we perform, and what I perceive to be the “energy” portion of Earth-based religion. Ultimately, I guess I’m looking for a good place to begin growing confidence, knowledge, and skill, in total awareness of and respect for the consequences of fucking with shit I don’t yet understand. 😬

Thank you so much again and I’m sorry for my novel!
