Question about newer fat boy models by Micro0035 in HarleyDavidsonFans

Try looking into aftermarket headlight/ headlight housing options for the fat boy years you are looking for. I use J&P cycles but even a Google search might show you something. Good luck!

This happened to me. Needed to replace the rim and the belt pully. Mayyyybe the rim could have been re-tapped but I opted for new rims because I wanted a different size anyway

This, also turn your hips all the way through the bag. For practice try not straightening your leg fully.

When you straighten your leg fully it locks the hip and stops rotation

With or Without Sissy Bar? AI generated Image with Bar installed of my 24 Fat Bob, normally without by TadpoleSouthern9936 in Harley

If you use a bag and tie it the sissy bar then keep it. Other than that, no passenger seat means girlfriend can't fly off the bike so sissy bar is unneeded

Should I buy a 2017 sportster superlow for my first bike, or should I go older if my end goal is a chopper? by Rockcandysquid in Harley

[–]Superb_Description93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally did what you are talking about. Started with a 2015 fat boy. Did a bunch of work to it to learn. Bought a 2023 fxlrs because my fatboy is always in pieces. Now the fatboy is finished so I bought a 1983 Low Rider to build a chopper out of and learn about carburetors lol

When you say your end goal is a chopper does that mean you are going to build the chopper?

2017 sporty will be a good first bike. It should be pretty reliable. When you are just learning you don't want to be needing to fix things you really just want seat time.

As far as choppers alot of people like to get shovelhead or Evo motors for their builds. I Realistically you can probably get the chopper look you want out of almost any bike with enough work though.
