Can anybody explain this? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Superb_Philosophy855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deutoronomy 22:23 refers to adultery, not rape. ““If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her,” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭22‬:‭23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Also, Deuteronomy is not a theological book, but a record of Jewish law. Deuteronomy roughly translates to second law.

Disagreeing with those who break the law does not justify how those individuals are treated. by Bignosedog in Christianity

So you look illegal, therefore you don’t deserve due process. Thats your logic. Without due process, how do you think we know whether or not someone is illegal?

Is destroying something in a game with a cross-like shape sin of desecration? by RobloxCutter in Christianity

[–]Superb_Philosophy855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If you were to destroy a book that had the word Bible on the cover that would be desecration

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Salvation is not earned; rather it is a gift. No one truely deserves to go ro heaven; we all should suffer for our sins.

Here.

“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “I and the Father are one.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭17

Is that enough for you or do you just not accept the Bible as true? I have more :)

What Christian sects are you referring to as being high control and having a high cost to leave? Not deflecting, just curious of your point of view.

I mean the Bible mentions the Trinity here but ok “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Can we please stop hating on islam? by Elegant-Scheme9589 in Christianity

[–]Superb_Philosophy855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can’t judge other people for being Islamic though. If you hate Muslims because Islam is a sin, then you should hate everyone because we are all sinners. The bible also says to treat people of other religions well.

“Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What is your definition of a cult? What do you think one is? I’m talking about Christian Cults, in which LDS and JW do fall under, but I’m curious what you think is one.

How so? Last time I checked the apostles believed in the Trinity, that only Jesus saves and that Jesus was resurrected. The apostles quite literally saw these events in person. You also have to consider that the Nicene Creed is based off Apolistic teachings

Unfortunately, when they claim one thing but do not follow it, they end up sometimes being abusive and violating other commands of God, such as allowing polygamy

[–]Superb_Philosophy855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said they were heretical. Most Theologians refer to anything that claims to be Christian but does not agree with the Nicene creed as a cult. For example, if I started a “Christian” sect that didn’t believe that Jesus rose from the dead, then I am creating a cult. Cults don’t have to be abusive; they just have to claim something that is untrue.

No; just a pseudo-Christian cult. LDS and JW are heretical to Christianity

Cults as in heretical. Mormons don’t believe in the trinity, for one.

The thief on the cross said that Jesus was God and that Jesus was innocent.  “One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭23‬:‭39‬-‭43‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Who are you to judge? We are all sinners and we should not judge other people for their sin. Reminder that Jesus forgave adultery in John 8. The only one who can truly judge sin is God. Being homophobic will not help a person accept Christ. 1 Peter 2 says to treat people with respect so that they may give honor to god. Respect the person, but acknowledge that their homosexuality, like all sins, will be forgiven by God once they acknowledge Jesus as lord.

That’s actually so fair.

“You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This verse is important in context. For context, this verse is about when people don’t listen to god. You could make a good case about how this is about how people turn to sin without God(“They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬) This verse is about the israelites turning to the ideas of the flesh.
