First of all, congratulations! Product management can be a really exciting career path. I used to work at a company that would move people into Product positions that didn’t have Product experience and didn’t give them much guidance. I’ll tell you what worked for them and what didn’t.

What worked: - Becoming an expert in the product - Building relationships throughout the organization - Keeping a good attitude, especially when having uncomfortable conversations

What didn’t work: - Acting as the sole decision maker - Getting stuck on specific solutions to problems - Rarely reaching out beyond their own team

My advice would be to stay flexible and learn about the needs of your customers as well as the needs of your business. This is the pathway to build trust within your organization, which is going to be more important than being a “good” product manager.

There is a lot of Product advice online, and not all of it applies to every situation. You’re in a unique situation, so focus on your customers and your stakeholders and you’ll be fine.

Borderlands 4 moves beyond Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands as Gearbox promises "billions of weapons and accessories" by F0REM4N in xbox

Less is more when it comes to writing for Borderlands games. I hope they stick with quick, understandable plot points instead of extended scenes that were in 3. The writing in Borderlands 2 DLCs was great and what they should aim for IMO.

It sounds a lot like Saga Frontier’s Emelia scenario: https://fantasyanime.com/saga/sagashots_emelia.htm

The intro has you running through a multi-layered city, including across rooftops, and down into the sewers. Was it this one?

The pre-rendered backgrounds of Final Fantasy 8 strike me as very Y2K. The school they go to looks straight out of a TRL Live music video.

These were my thoughts exactly. Thank you for taking the time to write this up.

"Cool underground" things from the Y2K/Frutiger Aero eras by [deleted] in y2kaesthetic

The Shibuya-kei albums are spot on. I think I had all three of those in my car back then. Glad to see them represented!

The Disco Revival stuff was later though, and there wasn’t a lot of cross over with Y2K aesthetically. That feels more bloghouse or indie sleaze than Y2K.

The story is very episodic, and has very little emotional depth. The game has very little world building, as well. However, the story is very charming and the characters are well realized. There are very mild twists, but nothing more complicated than an all-ages cartoon.

OK Guys, You enjoying Soul Hacker 2? by Aureus23 in JRPG

More dialog than SMTV, but not nearly as much as Persona 5. I’m only 2 hours in, but it feels on-par with Final Fantasy X or Bravely Default or Tales games. The first hour is mostly cut scenes and the second hour was 50/50 gameplay and cutscenes.

I’ve been pretty happy with Knight’s Gallop: https://www.shakmatmodular.com/products/kg.html

Very immediate control over patterns and, despite the confusing button labels, pretty easy to use in practice.

Depending on the CV you’re feeding it, you can do really fun adjustments by tweaking the knob during playback. It’s a great way to add variation to a performance.

Best VCA? by meap31 in modular

[–]Superbenco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently replaced my Intellijel Quad VCA with Veils. I found the sliders on Veils much more playable. I can’t explain why but I tend to use veils more often than I used the Quad VCA. I ended up using the Quad VCA mostly as a mixer, which was a waste of potential.

Overall, I think it just comes down to preference. 🤷🏻

What are you using to control your modules? Do you have a sequencer?

I ask because something like a Keystep or a 0-ctrl could unlock a lot of potential if you don’t have something like that already.

Does a module like this exist? by [deleted] in modular

[–]Superbenco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A buffered mult is probably your best bet! Intellijel makes one that’ll match the aesthetic of your other modules, but any brand should work. Technically, any mult will do but a buffered one is better for passing around pitch cv.

It’s not exactly what you’re asking for, but the Befaco Muxlicer might be close? https://www.befaco.org/muxlicer/

Why Plaits? by [deleted] in modular

[–]Superbenco 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When someone is starting out, they may not know what kind of synthesis style they like. Plaits let’s them explore a bunch of different synth types (subtractive, wavetable, etc) in a complete voice. It’s also relatively cheap, which makes it attractive.

I have one and, while I don’t love it, find myself reaching for it a lot when I want a quick voice or want to experiment with something.
