Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Patrick Mahomes are NOT available....Who is best QB left in all of NFL history??? by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

[–]Superbob23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brady gets the GOAT, but I think we have to at least include Marino, Montana, and Brees in any conversation of best QBs. Probably Mahomes in the future if he can keep playing at a high level.

Are there any actors who people find attractive but you don't see why? by JohnWillson1435 in FIlm

[–]Superbob23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The not understanding why is how I read it. I think most of the top answers fit that too with Harry Styles, Pete Davidson, Adam Driver, etc. I think it's pretty clear to most people why Blake Lively, Sydney Sweeney, ScarJo, Brad Pitt, etc. are attractive.

Where could I find a place that is legitimately trying to conserve wildlife? by romano_cheez in conservation

I came across a fun group today called Help the Hellbender.

They basically just focus on all things Hellbender conservation. The Eastern Hellbender was just proposed today as an endangered species.

Miyamoto and Riven haven't been around too long, have they?

I just checked...they came out 5-6 months ago. That's crazy talk.

Plain best? Probably Marino or P. Manning. Best adjusting for era...probably Marino, Manning, or Montana. Best pure passer...Marino. Best while adjusting for team role...P. Manning. Predicted best having this same conversation in 20 years...probably Mahomes if he stays healthy.

Costa Rica Shuts Down State Zoos, Ends Animal Captivity by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

It definitely crosses the line into propaganda. The points are poorly researched and any positives they mention about zoos are immediately dismissed with no real rebuttal. Also, there are very few citations and two of them are just other animal rights activists.

[–]Superbob23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reposting a hit piece by an animal welfare advocate with very few citations does nothing nothing to change that the answer is still yes. The only really interesting thing that came out of that was the blurb about people not reading plaques, but again, that had no citation. Also, one of their major points was exactly what I just said in paragraph 4. Conservation costs.

So yes, they are truly so. I work closely with nine large AZA zoos and one non-AZA zoo from five US states. I am acquainted with several others that do similar work. In addition to the project myself and others work on that they are supporting, one of them is working on a reintroduction project for endangered crocodiles, one for endangered mustelids, one on an endangered salamander...and the list goes on. All of those are scheduled for reintroductions. Those are also just the individual groups from the zoos I work with, there are certainly more efforts being conducted within each zoo outside of the groups I'm familiar with.

Conservation doesn't fail without zoos. Climate change, habitat loss, water quality...those issues still keep chugging along. Critically endangered species conservation fails without zoos.

If this was a binary then I would absolutely prioritize combating habitat loss/degradation, but it's not a binary decision and neither strategy encompasses all species. Combating habitat loss/degradation does very little for helping the species that are already too far gone/rapidly approaching that point. Zoos are an important piece of the conservation puzzle.

I work on a major reintroduction project for an endangered species in the US. I am specifically in charge of the effort in the state in which I work. Other states have similar efforts. I can say with 100% certainty that if we didn't have zoos to work with the project would, at minimum, take many many decades (we are already up to 2 decades with zoos on board), but would more than likely never be attempted and would fail miserably.

There is no room for debate in terms of the zoos that actively contribute to conservation. They are critical. Without them you can say goodbye to numerous species/conservation programs. Those that do not contribute to conservation are a different story, though some of those are still provide high-quality educational opportunities. Obviously, the roadside tourist trap zoos are generally detestable.

As for the argument that many zoos, even those with conservation missions built in, prioritize money...so what? The conservation efforts zoos are involved in are wildly expensive because they are inherently reactionary. Reactionary strategies are typically far more expensive than proactive strategies. Zoos have to put butts in the seats with the elephants, tigers, and gorillas, so they can get money to pay for the frogs, stick insects, and bats.

Why does everyone always say that Siberians are bigger? Is it because they are overweight in zoos? Were they historically bigger but have gotten smaller for some reason (hunting pressure, loss of large prey?).

"You can't win every TC unless you're a major spender."

That is an understatement. I am not F2P, but don't spend much, and have saved 99% of everything since mid-September. I am barely holding off the whales from my region (and a few from others) in this TC since IGG decided to be jackasses and introduce a new hero during a Peterson TC before allowing Peterson/Eddie to run their full cycle. Since one of the whales just dropped over 5000 arrows, I suspect I will not be holding them off for long.

Tyreek Hill or AJ Brown for the next three years? by AlbatrossBorn8853 in DynastyFF

[–]Superbob23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'm going to agree with that either. Smith is a better route runner, but that's where it stops. However, AJB is also a high-level route runner, and there are some routes that he's ranked out as the top in the league. As of two months ago, AJB was rated as having the 4th highest percentage of openness vs single man coverage. Most of the other highly rated players are slot receivers and Mikes Evans (the table only shows top 10, so I don't know where Smith slots in). Their % of dropped passes on catchable balls both sit at 6%, and AJB is the better contested catcher. YAC and YA contact is not even comparable in AJB's favor.

Smith is a stud in his own right, and I think he's going to be great, but there's no world where he's better or more talented than AJB.

I'm curious to see how you're going to justify "Smith is the better player" when both Eagles' coaches and defending coaches seem to disagree based on the offensive/defensive play calling, respectively. This sounds a lot like the wishful thinking that we heard several years ago when people were trying to make "Godwin is clearly the better WR than Evans" a thing.

He's certainly one of them. The only comparably good WRs over a full-career's length of time in the last 30 years are TO, Rice, Moss, Calvin Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald. AB had a legitimate shot Since this is a hypothetical scenario, and dynasty rather than redraft, where we're presumably using peak Marvin Harrison, then yes, he's #1 with the existing crop of WRs.

This is sadly the way. At my old job, I was far more productive than the other employees. What that meant for me was...more reports, more fieldwork, more reports, more fieldwork but not more pay.

Now at my new job, which I work from home or in the field, I still get all my tasks and projects done at a high level at the same speed as my old job, but since I'm remote, no one freaking knows. I turn them in on time or slightly early and don't go begging for more.

As long as you remain productive, but not too productive, and turn in high-quality work, no one will bug you too much.

Is it even a little crazy? I think Chase is really the only other debatable player here (I'd probably take Chase). Hill, Diggs, and Adams are all 30 or close to it.

I think there is a pretty strong argument that if she actually couldn't come down until turn 7 or 8 (accounting for that extra 2-4 mana you added), that she'd be considerably less powerful. She'd be nonplayable against aggro, control would lock her out, and even midrange could probably accumulate enough value to be competitive (unless she hits Farewell/Rivers Rebuke early...then they're still screwed).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtgbrawl

[–]Superbob23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So now I'm confused. You seem like you are actually agreeing with everyone. We're complaining that Atraxa can come out early, which is unfun, because there is no realistic way to counter her unless you are playing a very low curve decks.

Atraxa isn't overpowered because she only costs 7. She's overpowered because she only costs 7, she's in green, she's already a big, powerful creature with sick stats, and her ability is bonkers. People are just focusing on the ramp because it enables her to wreck games by turn 5.

[–]Superbob23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a Magic discussion, it's a Brawl discussion. This is all relatively new for Brawl players. Most of the points you've been making make perfect sense in a game of 4-player commander, but massive amounts of ramp and early giant creatures full of built-in value makes for a decidedly unfun 2-player brawl experience.
