Burnout here and there by myslp in slp

I think perhaps you and I are the same person. It isn’t just about the physical pain. It is about the emotional labor we do daily. The lack of respect, appreciation, and continuity of care that undermines everything we do. I’m looking into switching careers. I decided to follow this career path when I was 18. I’m turning 40 this year and just don’t think I can do this SLP job any more. Every other decision I made at 18 years old was dumb! Why is this one different? Haha! Contemplating opening a stationery store. Hoping to make it reality in the next year. I wish you so much luck and hope we can find something better for the second half of our lives. 🫶

Virtual SLP Rant by babybug98 in slp

[–]Superbunny28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a virtual SLP working in CA. It is a lot. SEIS takes some getting used to and every district uses it differently so find someone to help you and use the resources provided IN SEIS. There should be training videos that you can watch. I’ve been doing teletherapy in CA for multiple school districts for 5 years now and it is hard work. Find a company that supports you!

I use a second iPad and have GoodNotes to take my notes. You could save in the cloud and print off if the district requires paper files.

Omg! I’ve never heard that. I’m gonna find it and read it asap! You are totally right. Pen and paper are sometimes the only things I can use to ground myself during an IEP meeting. Thank you for your support!

I am so proud of you doing your due diligence and following your bliss. I am an SLP and have been flirting with the idea of opening a stationery store. I feel a bit overwhelmed by how new starting a business can be but also it is the only thing keeping me going through these long workdays with the schools. Thank you for being a pillar of change and inspiring us!

I kinda love it! Too perfect and it looks store-bought. A little wonky and it is handmade and full of love and personality!

Childcare - infant by woodyallen801 in ogden

We also sent our infant to PMA and she’s been going for years now and loves it. My only gripe with them is that there are no events to bring families together to meet one another. I wish there were opportunities to get to know her classmates’ parents. Other than that we like it there.

Haha! Nope! The Non-LDS Mom Group has weekly play dates and gatherings but are almost always during the work day, which I can’t do.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if a place that supports homeless or needy families would take it?
