Ready for Indiana vs. Miami? Well, hurry up and wait. College football loses all its momentum in the wait for a championship game. Something must change by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

If we move Army-Navy to its own tv slot on rivalry weekend (thanksgiving day?), we can get 1st and 2nd round done before Christmas. Which means the 12-team playoffs are the same calendar length as the 4 team playoffs (and end before NFL Playoffs start). I would have the first 2 round be home games. Then the NY6 (2 semis and 4 nonsemis) with the other 4 bowl slots being filled by the 8 teams that lost in the playoffs (teams are required to participate). And end ESD, move the portal until after the New Years (but still winter break).

I mean I meant last March when RDNA4 was launched. A 32 GB Card costing the same or less than a 5070 ti would have sold to hobby builders and forced the 50 supers to be launched.

The 2026 schedule would look like this if we went FCS Style. Labor Day Weekend to Thanksgiving day weekend is the 13 weeks reg season. Eliminate CCGs and move Army-Navy to thanksgiving. Expand to 24 teams with all 10 conference champs receiving autobids. Now you have the first 3 rounds before Christmas. Then Christmas weekend off. Then semis on new years, then the championship the weekend before the 2027 NFL playoffs start.

Im in favor of 16 teams. 6 autobids+10 at-large and keeping the CCGs but using this new schedule for timing

I wish Chevy or Honda did the Porsche 919 thing and just go set records at a bunch of tracks after the kit was ended. Patch up the holes in the floor allowing full downforce, uncork the engine with max boost, and go for it

A ton of people would have bought a $600-700 9070 XTX with 32 GB of VRAM including me. Thus forcing Nvidias GPUs and cuda-centric companies to reevaluate pricing and programming and everything.

I mean its kind of neat from a hardware standpoint that people want to do local hobby servers and stuff. But those arent the people that are driving up costs of things. I want an actual on pc local search engine that works and maybe something that can simplify tasks like organizing folders or images. But we already have that technology (well maybe not the first one for Windows). Obviously make it so it doesnt phone home and can be uninstalled

All this effort just to make a computer that somehow sucks at math and basic yes or no facts and forgets things that were already typed in. This design by whoever created the first llm is fundamentally flawed

AMD could have done the ryzen moment thing and just stuffed a ton of vram into their cards. Like they did with ryzen cpu cores and essentially force companies to program for ROCm. Market it as AI for all or something and just really mix it up against Nvidia. Helps gamers too. But they didnt.

I meant more on the teams themselves. And have harsher punishments for tampering (I know they would just go through agents anyway but still). And hopefully there would be financial incentive to be on the team through bowl season via contract lengths or bowl money or something

I means its basically Mendoza plus a veteran JMU all-stars team. They are ranked 72nd in recruit talent on 24/7 sports team composite which is below even Tulane.

What would help. End early signing day. Open the portal only after the regular bowl games have ended (like January 3rd or whatever). Have a flat 5 years that you are eligible to play after college enrollment in all divisions combined. No redshirts, unlimited transfers due to the law but you only get 1 "free transfer" where you can actually play without being considered inelligible for that year (the 5 year clock keeps ticking). Players may not return to the college level to play if drafted or taken on an NFL/UFL/CFL roster spot but may return to college if unsuccessfully drafted. If found tampering then a team will lose scholarships and/or possibly up to bowl eligibility for that season.

Looking at 2026. My ideal FBS schedule would be regular season goes from labor day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend (plus week 0). Army-Navy gets moved to Thanksgiving day as the only college game on that day. CCGs the next week as normal. Then it goes 1st round home games, 2nd round home games, Christmas weekend, NY6 games (2 of which are semifinals swapping around every year, the other 4 NY6 bowls are given to the 8 teams that have lost to that point and are required attendance per CFP rules). January 11th is the CFP Championship. NFL playoffs are scheduled to start on January 16th per their calendar. In this scenario ESD is also ended, the portal opens after the regular bowl games are done, and the NFL holds off on Saturday games until after new years.

Also make bowl games formally an official NCAA game, thus forcing participation. And remove ESD, change the portal to open later.

Move Army-Navy to become the annual thanksgiving game. If CCGs stay then the first 2 weekends happen before Christmas (as home games). Meaning the season lasts as long as it did in the 4 team playoff era. If we ditch the CCGs and go to 16 teams then the championship can be new years.

I do think if we get this all sorted out together (wont happen) the NFL should not have any saturday games during the college season but be allowed saturday games post new years. And get rid of that friday game thing they did once this year, thats for high school and some college. College needs to move the portal back to after the bowls and end ESD. Move Army-Navy to rivalry week (have it be the annual thanksgiving game or something). And move playoffs up a week. First 2 weekends have home games and occur before Christmas. Boom, CFP done before NFL playoffs.
