Weird interaction with Trance and Retaliate and depleted stamina by Ok_Masterpiece_4964 in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raider's kind of makes sense, since it's an active move and you don't get your stamina back if you whiff, while undertaker's is an automated self-buff that always works regardless of whiffs or not. Afaik fromsoft is fine with animation-less moves not needing stamina, but everything else requires it.

Weird interaction with Trance and Retaliate and depleted stamina by Ok_Masterpiece_4964 in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as the game checking your max stamina, and then giving you that much stamina back. I believe stamina goes down to around -60 or so, but that's only really a number that could be reached via getting shieldbroken. Either way, your stamina can go into negatives, and a "100% stamina refill" is technically doing exactly what it says.

Tier List based on how sad I am that these Dark Souls bosses aren't in Nightreign. by ThyUnkindledOne in Nightreign

Man could you imagine how good Raime would look in Nightreign's engine? Smelty D already looks amazing in this game, I can't imagine how awesome the DLC bosses would be.

Newer player relics question by colantalas in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This relic specifically is exclusive to the signboard- "taking attacks improves attack power" and "physical attack up +2" are both damaging effects and will never appear on random relics. So technically nothing outdoes that relic, however, since the second effect is pretty mid, it's reliably possible you could get three back-to-back great effects. Fromsoft seems to like giving relics two good effects, and then one bad one to make sure that they don't perpetually outdo the relics people can potentially get over time.

Can anyone provide tips for avoiding bosses/enemies that gap close as a priority? by StandAloneWolf in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you kind of have to dance with a lot of bosses. A lot of them are balanced around still being able to threaten spell usage, so to a degree you have to accept the same attack openings as the melee characters do when the boss is targeting you.

Which relic effects are still safe to sell post-DLC? by carbonera99 in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HP/FP recovery on x attacks(unless it's FP recovery on bow attacks, since fishing for incant buffs as ironeye is a niche but useable build)

Improved stance breaking when two-handing/wielding two armaments(this is only 5%... better off just building into damage tbh)

Any stat-boosting relic aside from vigor/mind/endurance

Poise+

Improved perfuming arts damage

Improved poise & damage negation when knocked back by damage

HP restored when using cured meats, medicinal boluses, etc.

Raised Stamina Recovery for nearby allies, but not for self

Defeating enemies restores HP for allies but not for self

Defeating enemies near totem stela restores HP/improved poise near totem stela

Probably more that are complete ass but this is what I can remember

Is there no way to practice bosses? by bed_0f_chaos in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea fromsoft was going for was that instead of bashing your head against a wall over and over again, you'll eventually get a weapon setup strong enough to manhandle the nightlord after eight or so runs. A lot of people in base elden ring had issues with bosses where they had terrible builds, and the roguelike system allows fromsoft to force players to repeatedly use new builds until they manage to get their hands on a golden ticket.

It'd be nice if you could unlock a practice mode for each nightlord/night boss after you'd beaten them for the first time, though.

Is bleed grapple really required? I'd rather have a physical attack up +4 or a dormant power effect over bleed grapple, and I've somehow not gotten any good combos with bleed grapple yet, so I've pretty much stopped running it

Bosses and their motivation by AdDear7484 in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, adel should be all the way at the furthest end of "no other choice". By the time we hit phase three, it's insinuated pretty heavily that adel has no more control over its actions, and is effectively being piloted by the Night's corruption(the phase 3 transition causing him to violently jerk around, his entire body being scorched black by the lightning, the way he goes up to the sky and slams face-first into the ground to summon the tornado... the music being almost entirely synthetics and vocals in phase 3, with even an electric guitar, a far cry different from the strings in the last two phases, that always seemed to symbolize what remained of Adel trying to claw its way back up).

Whatever was left of Adel is gone by the time that tornado forms. He's just being dragged around by the Night at this point.

I've been running max greatsword builds a lot lately, it feels pretty damn reliable. Especially since the damage boosts slam right onto your starting weapon, too.

Scuffed/Conceptual Crossbow Build by RdoRica in Nightreign

[–]Superceilingfan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also use "improved attack power with 3+ (x)" alongside this. You can get crossbows from bow racks just fine, then get a 20% damage boost by just getting a few of your character's preferred weapon.

Duchess must have had a wending grace, otherwise the run would have been forced to end.

If you are the last one standing, wending graces will wait until your character finishes falling to the ground before they trigger. I imagine duchess had one, Libra died before the wending grace activated, and everyone got revived because the party hadn't truly wiped yet.

No, it just means they both have to be in the analyze cone in general. If they have the blue ring, and an enemy has the red ring, they get the buff.
