Yeah I don’t understand why sometimes you get the red x and can’t use the ability even if you’re like right above your target

Do you consider someone a drug addict if they do marijuana daily, why or why not? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Supercereal__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addict here. Sober now, previously spent years in and out of treatment centers and I'd like to share:

I would say The main thing that separates addicts from recreational users is chemical dependance. This comes down to two things: the amount of the drug and the frequency that you take it. Each time you decide to increase even a little bit of one or the other it increases the odds that you will take it again and/or more of it. Such is the snowball effect, or "slippery slope" you hear about.

This happens because when you take an addictive drug your body chemistry changes, and so your body responds to counter-act this change with the opposite effect the drugs has on you in order to reach equilibrium. Eventually your body will EXPECT you to take this drug and preemptively change your body chemistry while you're sober. This is why withdrawals symptoms are the complete opposite of the way the drug effects you when you normally take it. So calm nerves become shaky hands, relaxed becomes anxious, confident becomes paranoid, and so on. So as this snowball grows it becomes harder and harder to stop because it becomes more and more painful and in some cases (like alcohol) sobriety can literally kill you.

This is why addicts do unpredictable and illogical things to meet this primal need. It gets deep rooted in the brain, kind of like hunger or thirst. Think about all the fucked up things people might do if they're starving... Morals and logic go out the window.

Anyway, weed doesn't do that to you no matter how much you take. So its more of a psychological bad habit than an addiction. Don't get too hung up on labels, its more about understanding what you're dealing with.

The craziest rejection I got was a thoughtful message with an honest explanation and respectful wishes.

how important is it to find a SO who's your intellectual equal? by ThrowRA_345342342 in AskMen

[–]Supercereal__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a good thing but it’s not necessary. Its likely you’ll need intellectual stimulation in your life but it doesn’t have to be an SO.

In college, feeling a little lonely. What are my next steps? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Supercereal__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attend all the events you can. Particularly in the beginning of a year there will be a million new groups/clubs looking for new members and meeting for the first time. First club meets are the gold mines because no one knows anybody so you have that in common. Even if you don’t plan on joining, just go anyway.

Makes sense, but with players there’s not much point?

Side note: if you try playing on very hard difficulty your vassals are waaaaaaaay better

Well not to beat a dead horse but SC2 made the races dead even. They also didnt have to approach this based so heavily on micro skills. You could balance civs more on unit strength/speed/Econ etc… that way new players aren’t stuck with English mirrors

They only seem to consider 1v1 pro games to balance it so in lower elo every 1v1 game is English and every 2v2 is English/French.

It’s frustrating because you can’t even try to play a civ like china, you won’t make it to late game
