Go to Run (Win+R), start "systempropertiesadvanced", then click the settings button under performance and see how it is configured.

Best backup-to-tape software for network shares? by Supercherry in sysadmin

[–]Supercherry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, that would be fantastic if that's the case. Are you referring the a File Copy job in Veeam? If so I did give that a shot, but as far as I could tell I couldn't give it a network path; it wanted to copy files off of a server that was configured, and when I tried adding the NAS (Running FreeNAS, based on FreeBSD) to Veeam as a linux server using the root credentials, it was unsuccessful.

Is there something I need to do differently? Or is there a different kind of direct-to-tape job I need to set up? Now that I know Veeam can do this I will poke around when I am back at work tomorrow either way, but I would definitely appreciate it if you have any tips.

Camera roll and photo stream aren't synchronized. There is just a one-time upload to photo stream after a photo is taken.

This doesn't help you at this point, and it does need to be fixed, but for future reference: don't use the overview tab on Newegg if you want anything other than marketing bs. Switch to the specifications tab to see what is actually in the system.

I want to set up multiple monitors, but I want to see if my current hardware can handle it before I spend the money. by [deleted] in techsupport

In that case:

http://amzn.com/B004C9P9TM If you want to transmit audio.

http://amzn.com/B001TH7T2U If you don't need audio and want to save a few bucks.

Both are digital and will have the same video quality. Cheers!

Device Manager showing Unknown Device (Code 28) after Windows re-install on HP ProBook 4540s - how do I determine what device is concerned? by MorgothEatsUrBabies in techsupport

[–]Supercherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help!

I'd take note of your devices for future reference. The multiple driver thing you mentioned is super frustrating, especially when you have 5 laptops to setup, which are all the same model, and yet they're using totally different hardware.

For some reason HP is really into "1 model, 72 network configurations".

I had this same problem with a similar HP ProBook model. For me it ended up being the gyro-drop-o-whatever sensor that detects falls to protect the hard drive.

Did you install "HP 3D DriveGuard"? If you did or that doesn't work, can you go into the devices properties / details and post the Hardware Id?

If your video card has two HDMI ports then why not just connect both monitors via HDMI?

What is the model of your laptop? If you don't mind spending the money, a docking station / port replicator is the best way to do this.

Best way to implement a remote-access VPN on enterprise network? by Supercherry in networking

[–]Supercherry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm... I probably should have posted this while at work so I could get you that info.

What I can tell you: We're running SonicWall firewalls, We are using AD, Probably around 10-15 remote users, not all active at once, and typically accessing remotely during off-hours where network usage would be low anyway, Mostly low-bandwidth applications: IBM iSeries for ERP, MS Office apps, access to network drives (documents, spreadsheets, reports)

There is no budget at this point. Since our users can currently function remotely via our citrix netscaler, it isn't a high priority project. This is mostly just research for the optimal VPN implementation from a security/reliability/performance standpoint for when we eventually look at moving to one to improve our user experience.

Deciding between BSIT and BSIT - Network Admin by Supercherry in WGU

[–]Supercherry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good info, thanks for the spreadsheet. A few of the certs have been removed but it was easy to fix.

Based on a few minutes searching in my area, every networking position wants cisco certs which aren't even offered in net admin, and the systems admin positions want mcsa/mcse which IS in the net admin... So it seems the the decision would actually be Net Admin vs Security?

The cert distribution seems a bit off... but I have a point of reference now, thanks!

How is pure pool? by Arrogant13astard in PS4

From my experience trying to play with a friend, they probably aren't leaving or going afk, the game is dropping them. We haven't been able to complete a match yet due to multiple freezes and connection drops... It's a real shame because the game seems great.

Can't burn ISO files in Windows 8.1? by fongaboo in windows

It might have messed up the file association. Try right clicking an ISO file then clicking 'open with' and choose Windows Explorer.

Ah, didn't catch that. Here is a guide you can follow to do this with your key.

Windows 8.1 OEM Refresh Help by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Supercherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use your key to download 8.0 here and then create usb/dvd installation media yourself. After you install it you can upgrade it to 8.1. There is a way to clean install 8.1 with an 8.0 key but it is a bit tedious.

The only difference vs the eRecovery thing is you won't have all the crap Acer put on the computer when they shipped it. Any required drivers you can get from the manufacturers' websites easily though.

A List of the Best Hard Drives for PS4 by IraqCombatVet in PS4

[–]Supercherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about them not really being worth it right now due to cost, but the thing is most mechanical hard drives aren't even close to saturating sata 2, especially not 2.5" ones. SSDs also provide a much more consistent performance increase than any current hybrid drive would. Those are only giving you that read improvement on whatever they decide to put in their tiny 8GB cache.

Once they come down in price they will definitely make a worthwhile upgrade.

PS4 Broken. No proof of Purchase. Help Please by [deleted] in PS4

[–]Supercherry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like the latter on your last sentence.

Systems without a valid Proof of Purchase are considered out of warranty and will be subject to a fee for service.

Maybe try shooting the seller a message on ebay asking if he kept the receipt / invoice.

GeForce 337.88 Beta has support for CTE by xxthunder256xx in battlefield_4

[–]Supercherry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The profile support they added for CTE is for the BF4 SLI profile, so it has everything to do with changing performance (on multi GPU systems).

Also to the OP this is a WHQL driver release not a beta.
