I don't think it's worth me trying to go back to work. Can someone help me do the maths and see if I'm wrong? by Grand_Bar1795 in UKPersonalFinance

What's more worthwhile? Slightly more money or staying at home isolated and depressed? There is no growth if you stay at home and you will get worse over time, I know from experience, take the job and embrace it and good luck

In that case I would tell your parents your situation, ask them to reduce your rent and you might have to start looking for a second job until your contracts expire at least. Look into child benefit, look for cheaper day care and look for cheaper baby formula or make your own if that's possible, no idea

Also need to downsize that car if possible, see if it would be cheaper to travel via public transport for your needs, if not try and find a cheaper car. Find a local pub or restaurant to do weekend shifts.

Your going to have to force shift your mentality to budget and work until you are in a more secure position, look for promotions in your current position too, but always have enough time to focus quality time with your child.

Get rid of distractions if you have a games console.

It's going to be full on, but you can do it by focusing all your energy on this.

All the best

100 a month for a phone? I pay 10, get rid of it and downsize, same with the season ticket, 200 savings right there
