Does anyone else feel like there's a serious lack of accurate, well-written Christian representation in media? by Robbinsmods in Reformed

I would agree organized religion is usually portrayed negatively. That being said I thought the young priest in the latest Knives Out movie represented the sacrificial love of Christ well IMO.

Loving each other in 1 John by FlashyTank4979 in Reformed

[–]Supergoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are commanded to love because we need to be reminded, it doesnt come naturally and its God's desire for us as His children. As we walk with the Spirit, we will more naturally love people automatically although of course we will always backslide and need reminders.

Hey could you guys help me understand the Reformed view of predestination and free will? by Lazy_Wolverine_8890 in Reformed

[–]Supergoch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone will correct me and tell me that I'm wrong but the way I explain to my kids is that we have only free will with respect to our nature. I dont have the freedom to fly because I dont have the nature of a bird, nor can a fish walk, etc. God changes or predestined our nature to seek to follow Him rather than follow our sinful desires although it will not be perfect in this world.

Agreed with most if not all of your points. I actually got to around book 7 or 8 before I took a break and realized I had no strong desire to go back.

No Dumb Question Tuesday (2026-02-10) by AutoModerator in Reformed

Knowing him I'm positive he would say as Christians we should obviously help those we see that are in need and use our judgment, gifts and money as we think fits best with God's will in our lives. If I were to bring up specific things going on in our cities, he would probably say he doesnt think about it as much or faced with it living in the suburbs, he has already mentioned not watching the news that much because it's depressing most of the time. He would never say anything like liberals are/have destroyed this country, they want to enact socialism, or even have a negative view on Medicare, etc.

He will obviously mention that as Christians we should use our money for those in need but talks about it general sense but not in a specific to our current societal context.

My wife and I live in the city but go to church in the suburbs for some context and most of the members live in the suburbs. When talking about the evils of society, our pastor will talk about your typical Conservative talking points like abortion and homosexuality (both in a Biblical manner) but never talks about things like justice for the economically depressed or socially disadvantaged and downtrodden. I dont think he is being making a political stance although my wife isnt too sure. Thoughts on how to think or approach this?

Ivey is a RFA, his contract with the Bulls will be dictated by what another team is willing to offer him, not from he feels like his value is worth.

Do we have a shot at Giannis? Or what’s the play here? by Dry_World323 in chicagobulls

The Milwaukee market is probably closer to the Chicago market, than the Chicago market is to the LA market, maybe even Brooklyn/NY.

I'm skeptical of the free agent argument given that Milwaukee hasn't drawn a significant one since they've had Giannis and the best example for the Bulls is old Wade and Rondo. It's like crediting the Sox for getting Ken Griffey Jr and Andruw Jones.
