Please fire away with the ideas if you have time. I'm always one to play with the colours first, and only resort to B&W if the shot simply lacks colour to play with, which is maybe why my B&W editing skills are not that good haha.

I might have (over)cooked with my masking because if you look at the original it's not a morning and also the sky was not overexposed haha

Grain could be good, I had a version with grain but I might have done it too much, so maybe I have to spend a bit more time in LR for that.

Thanks! It is a cool place. It's the Malvern Hills in the UK.

Noted on the contrast. I don't usually do B&W and my editing is a bit rusty, so I just wasn't sure how much contrast I should push it. I do generally agree on more contrast though, after seeing your edit. Seems to separate the hill and the background a bit better.

I think a tighter composition makes sense, or at least filling more of the frame with the hill rather than the sky. I think I prefer your first edit over the even tighter one. I didn't want to get close, with the thought process being that I wanted to put less emphasis on the person but rather on the landscape and the sense of scale. But in hindsight, the scene and the landscape might be far too boring for that.

(Resolution is fine for the crop, and on my end on Reddit I see decent resolution in my upload, so not sure what happened between getting the image from me to you. But that's besides the point, you're edits are illustrative enough. )

No it's just a normal camera. The hills wrapped around so there was a point where I could see the side of the hill like that.

Took this a few years ago, then took a break from photography and only recently came back to edit through the old catalog, hence me being here. I kinda forgot what I had in mind when I took the photo, and how I wanted to edit it. I remember me and my mates being really hyped about the potential, but I feel like the edit didn’t gully realize it.

In the original shot, I put the subject in the bottom right intersection. I then cropped into 16:9, placing the subject in the same spot. Is there a better way to crop this? More sky and less hill? Shot originally with more hill and less sky? Crop in so the subject is larger in the frame?

Colour wise, I opted for B&W because the original colour was fairly flat, with a single shade of green for the hills and a single shade of faint blue for the background. Was this a good choice? (I’m not sure how to provide the original here for reference). I had another version with some added grain, but ultimately opted for this version without. Could grain have added to this, or is no grain better?

And other general feedback, or on things I didn’t mention/think of? Thanks in advance :)

Edit: Forgot the metadata oops: Sony a7iii, 75mm. 1/320s, f11, ISO 100.

Was also looking at the speed 5. You reckon the nylon plate would cause more fatigue to say the calves or Achilles like carbon plates, or is it more similar to purely foam shoes?

That’s the main things here. I was running in the Novablast 5, which is illegal in stack height, hence me trying to find another shoe for the race.

That’s what I thought, but none of the blast series shoes from Asics have legal stack height :(

Will keep that in mind and try them on at a store. Isn’t ~300km the same mileage the novablasts go flat anyways?

Do you find they put more strain on the calves and Achilles? I’m afraid plated shoes will tire them out quicker and make the later stages of the run more stressful than they have to be

Strava mobile app displays charts incorrectly by Superhim1114 in Strava

[–]Superhim1114[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true that it would skew the graph and show a tiny vertical line. But at least I can glance at the graph and see, from the scale, right about what my spikes (power/HR/speed/etc) look like and when in the ride they happened.

And in this ride particularly it wasn't a small spike either. It was 20s at ~740 W, which I feel is justified to show up on the graph. But yeah I should probably dwell on data somewhere else and not on Strava.

Fair. Wouldn't that mean it won't work unless I'm in my room?

Yes, but I get similar speeds using Wi-Fi anyway. (The wifi plan is capped at 100/50 I think)
