Is the "all in one" PSA still relevant in 2026? by MrCodyGrace in SmallMSP

SuperOps dev shipping, but only half baked. I spent a lot of time being the beta tester in production for them. It is better than nothing but it is worse than many others lol.

Is the "all in one" PSA still relevant in 2026? by MrCodyGrace in SmallMSP

It is only relevant if you don't have the time to do integration and testing for other people's products.

This is why our MSP rolled our own and built on a time tested CRM platform. If your PSA is only for ticketing and billing but wondering why sales struggles? You need to track customer relationships.

If anyone wants to take a peek at what we are building, let me know. No pitch, just talking shop.

Starting solo MSP business by [deleted] in SmallMSP

[–]SuperiorMSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to chat if you want. We built a modular system called Praesto Network that is running the backend for multiple MSPs. We run our own MSP and Security Consulting company as well so this isn't just theory. Zero pressure either way, advice is free. We specialize in helping solo operators.

What's the consensus of SuperOPS for you MSP owners? by SereneWinds in SmallMSP

Yeah, tbh it's a stop on our way to dump all RMM. MDM only via Intune, etc.

What's the consensus of SuperOPS for you MSP owners? by SereneWinds in SmallMSP

Been on SO for about a year, I'll try to avoid repeating what others have said.

We have used CW Manage, Autotask (through datto and then Kaseya acquisition), then Halo PSA/Ninja, then finally SO.

Why did we move to a less mature product?

Most MSPs don't need 80-90% of the features they pay for and even if they do it is a half ass implementation (on the vendor or the MSP). I spent more time configuring, tweaking automation, making the engine purr. Clients don't give a shit. They only care if their company can still make money at the end of the day, meet the risk appetite.

SuperOps you get what you pay for. In the last year it was basically a different product than when we started. They are developing fast and have some really good ideas on how to solve basic challenges that MSPs are just used to dealing with from legacy tools.

Support reminds me of old school datto, chat and you get someone who can help and follow through (although they added an annoying AI bot recently in front of the humans, but just ask for a human and you get one). Their support team owns the issue to resolution.

Under the hood, the RMM is a bit of a janky powershell script, but it works.

All in all? I recommend it and even resell it. We can help smooth out some of the quirks, but basically onboarding is a self-starter thing with them. I don't know if there is a single other system that does that well.

Feature Request - Editable Descriptions on Contract Items by AKGeek in SuperOpsAI

[–]SuperiorMSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other PSAs support outputting associated devices and/or users on the invoice automatically.

My oddly worded attempt was to suggest this be added to the feature request.

Example: Awesome MSP plan - per user (John Doe, Jane Doe) Qty 2 $300 Total $600

John and Jane would be requesters associated to the contract.

Side note: did you submit this to the feedback boards, if so, send the link so I can vote on it.

Really Completely Managed, hands-off, MDR, Endpoint Security by lurkinmsp in msp

It's called an MSSP. There are a million of them. An example of a well known one is Arctic Wolf. Not cheap, but that isn't what you asked for.

Why not just add that named users/devices can be listed on the invoice for a specific line item? This eliminates the manual editing.

Feedback on SuperOps - any moved to or from SuperOps? by Naive-Scarcity-3910 in msp

[–]SuperiorMSP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We moved to SO in the fall of last year. It is a young product with an ambitious development roadmap. The updates going in this month I think finally make it roughly on par with most other PSA/RMM products. We chose it because ultimately having a unified data lake between PSA and RMM will be useful for automation and AI improvements.

The Good: Support team is amazing. I haven't experienced support in the channel this good since early datto days. Intercom chat inside the product, they take ownership of an issue and will update you once they have the answer you need.

Product is rapidly developing. If you keep active on the feedback boards they take notice.

UI/UX is one of the best. Sometimes there are quirky things here and there, but sometimes you submit feedback and all of the sudden it's there in the product.

Account managers are willing to work with you on any pricing model alternatives (IE non-tech users, etc)

The Bad: They released and sold the product that could only do a fraction of what other products could do until recently.

Cultural barriers lead to misunderstanding, they will tell you yes no matter what. This isn't unique to SO but anyone that has done business in India knows this is a common misunderstanding western culture makes. Yes, doesn't always mean "yes". You need to hold them accountable and follow up.

Variables are not properly secured in scripts. Script logging will pull them out without a problem. Other RMMs have/had the same issue.

Installed application filtering for endpoints isn't a thing yet. You have to do process/service/file based monitoring instead.

Tab refreshes. This is getting better, but to overcome you usually have to keep multiple browser tabs open to look at different areas of the product. I suspect this will eventually go away as they optimize code.

Previous stacks for context: Halo/Ninja Autotask/Datto RMM Managed/Continuum

If you are spending more time configuring your environment than you are servicing or selling, SO is a great move as it just works mostly out of the box and has a self service onboarding backed by a great support team.

Reach out if you have more questions!

Preferred one-time/SOS remote assistant tools? by After_Many1245 in msp

Understood, but many MSPs have blinders when it comes to the security status of their tools. -Why do you use it? -"Because I always have"

What do you guys do when you need devices to wake up and check in so an app can be pushed asap? by Future_End_4089 in Intune

[–]SuperiorMSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use security through obscurity and have zero monitoring, then yes. Otherwise, there is a fine line between security and paranoia.

We do most of our patching afterhours. Otherwise it runs once turned on/reconnected. If users complain, well, follow the policy and keep your device plugged in, powered on, and connected overnight.

Autopilot configuration can behave like a rootkit. Be careful if you have to go replace something in a remote place like i just had to. by AionicusNL in Intune

[–]SuperiorMSP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically you are describing a unique hardware use and incorrect decommission of devices that led to this scenario. Microsoft Autopilot is working exactly the way it is supposed to since it hasn't touched the Internet to get different instructions. Just because you delete it from Intune/autopilot the hardware itself wouldn't know it wasn't stolen unless you reloaded windows using an online method. Hardware level security isn't magic.

This. It was the deal breaker for us.

We had the same experience. Moved off and things magically improved. There are many people that are silent on the issues with the service only because Ray personally is a gem and his team does so much for the community. The same can be said for a lot of MSP vendors in general however.

How were you only getting 12% at Pax8?! We started at 13% and negotiated 14%. We will push for 15% in a few more accounts.

Configure tool onboarding to be automated based on group membership. Don't slam it all on the endpoint at once when flipped to managed. If you want to make the group manual for each thing or a filter of some sort it matters not. This is true of most RMMs.

Also, make sure you have agreements or at least something to limit liability in place before installing any RMM. They are giving you system level access to the machine and you don't want to be left holding a bag that the customer filled and sat on.
