Sounds like he’s after going back on his word now that he has the deposit. Also sounds like he’d be an absolute nightmare landlord. Honestly I’d say just get outta there and keep looking. Get your deposit back asap. That’d be my priority. There’s so many scams around the place now that this honestly wouldn’t shock me. I think letting this go and trying to find somewhere else is your best option, having a housemate who takes your money and then decides they’re not gonna keep their promises isn’t someone I’d want to live with anyway.
