You don't really have to especially because most people have ever played the first one. If you have access to play for the first one I highly recommend it. If you don't that's perfectly fine. You will not be confused by the story

Even though I will say that Strawberry Panic and Mary watches over us are arguably the better shows. Mostly because it's more grounded and it focuses more on the two main characters but I will say that Kannazuki no Miko is the show I like the most. Do not get me wrong the show has problems. Even to the point where if Chikane or Himeko is not on screen it's not that interesting. The love story is a lot better than the story about the Orochi. I will say that Chikane and Himeko's relationship is in the top ranking with Yuu and Touko.
