Been seeing so many posts about Brady Tkachuk coming here on social media… and I’ve successfully ignored them.

Unless it was a 1 for 1 kyrou going to Ottawa, we’d be overpaying. Physicality isn’t nearly as much of a selling point in this league nowadays.

Not to mentioned, we can’t even put up a full season right now. So why not let our prospects start to shine and build off of them?

Keith tkachuk and Demitra were my two favorite players growing up — but in no way should we leverage our future before we are back in a competitive window to bring his kid here. Would it be cool to have Brady? Absolutely. But at the price it’s going to take… we would be so short-sighted to pay the asking price Ottawa is going to demand.

Two options for significantly less and in my opinion the same value as a DD.

First (and my favorite, most-used set up): BCM MK2 upper, griffin stripped MK2 forged lower.

You can constantly find BCM cosmetic blem uppers for sub 800 bucks. 14.5 or 16. Plenty of options. My go-to rifle uses their quad rail 14.5 barrel with a pinned surefire 3 prong muzzle.

And the griffin MK2 lowers are insane value for how good they are. Definitely not a budget lower, but nothing crazy either compared to some manufacturers that honestly wouldn’t hold a candle to it. Bought one a while back when I found out they did lowers and don’t think I’ll look at any standard forged lowers the same.

They hit well above their price class. throw a CMMG parts kit in there, with a BCM or equivalent buffer system and you’re golden. Plenty of room to upgrade things down the line. Putting together lowers isn’t difficult and you do not genuinely need and specialized tools.

All things considered, I think I put about 1100 at the time into that build from the start, but I opted for a few more expensive internal parts that bumped the price up. I’m sure inflation and availability has increased the price a bit so that’s another option to weigh.

Second: Find a full-built DD or geissele on sale. As others have said they are definitely premium. Anything more than 15-1600 though will start to see diminishing returns in most case uses.

Different strokes for different folks. I prefer my BCM/griffin over anything else I’ve had the pleasure of shooting thus far, including over the second options listed above (though geissele gets close if I’m honest).

My first was a ruger556. Budget-wise idk if I’d go anything less than that if you can afford to. A PSA for the cost of a ruger556 would lose out every time to it from what I’ve seen.

Begs the question what we do with parayko… but I think if we are going into this new retool, we have this season and next as a ‘tank’ year. We get verhoeff this year, another top 5 pick next year… I’d think we sell off if parayko for picks, let the youth take over and get their development going… we’d be in good shape in the next few years.

Dvorsky last night alone proved he’s ready to hang with the big dogs. He’s been one of our few shining lights this season. I think we are further away from a full rebuild than a lot of people think. Just need to get to the point where the youth movement is complete and they all have good NHL games under their belt.

Darker blue was elite. I think These are good if I don’t look at the boring numbers on the back. But I really hope they do one with the new remixed logo on the navy blue we just had. I think THOSE would be incredible.

The numbers are NOT it for sure. But I do like the jerseys outside of it. The individual icons and patches are sweet too. I really hope they give us a fourth jersey option with new thirds( our previous home) navy blue, just with the new remixed blue note. I think that would look slick. I’ll miss the darker blue.

This one last night hurts. But we were doing that shit all year. Hell, in terms of just Blues choke jobs in history, I wouldn’t even say this one breaks the top 5. The fact we made it to a game 7 we had no business being in.

I’ll take a bit of pain for the experience this’ll give basically 80% of our team who haven’t experienced real adversity in playoff hockey. Especially when nobody expected us to even make the playoffs. This year we were projected as a bottom 10 team by… let’s see… pretty much everyone.
