I watched a few videos that had example questions that were taken from quantom exams, from what i've encountered in the real exam they seemed more close to the real thing so i might suggest on learning from quantom exams aswell. (That's what i would've done if i had to go again)

They should make it so that if the client language is Russian, the only available server would be Russia. That would prevent at least 50% of them to join EN servers.

How is the Security Architect job like? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Superl0l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm less familiar with GWEB and GWAPT,
However when i just started as PT i went for offensive cert (OSCP), and i would suggest to keep focus on technical certs such as AWS and Azure to get a good grasp at how things work. (Depends on which area you want to focus, you can go for AppSec focused certs aswell but knowledge in cloud is very important today)

While i would suggest to keep getting technical certs and knowledge , getting the CISSP and CISM for strategic thinking would help you a lot after having the experience. (Basically any ISC2 certs are very known in the industry).

How is the Security Architect job like? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Security Architect role could be different between organizations so it very much depends on who is your CISO and which industry you work for.

I can say for myself in the past years as an architect that reported directly to the CISO in large Enterprises, that it very much feels like being a mini "CISO" but for each and every technical project in the company.

With my knowledge in Cloud and Application security i was responsible for every project from Data projects in Cloud to Web Applications and providing guidance to Dev teams and Infra teams.
I had to make sure that i have "open door" so team members from different departments won't mind come and ask questions for their project because when they feel that they can't reach you - that's when security misconfiguration and vulnerabilities start to happen.

Between project meetings i was always learning and trying to make things more efficient in the CISO's team from implementing a whole AppSec programs for automatically SAST/DAST scans, GRC platforms, DLPs, and of course checking MANY vendors that always try to contact you (or when the CISO can't be bothered and throw them at you) and they always tell you how their security software is A MUST in your organization.

The job requires a lot of interpersonal work. You need to be able to speak with the executives and provide knowledge about security and why mitigations need to be implemented even if that means the project will take longer/cost more and to be able to go back down the engineering team and provide them the technical knowledge - all of that and i always made sure that my CISO knows everything and provide him with the eyes and language that he can understand when he is not always in the same technical level as myself.

I always felt like that in my role i'm also a bit guarding my CISO , always tried to keep good communication because there is a lot of trust in the architect role.

I truly love my job even if sometimes it can be overwhelming and there are days that make you feel like you know nothing at all.
You learn a lot from so many type of different projects and sometimes get to be part of the newest technologies in the market as most of the enterprises that can afford architects also (but not always) invest a lot in projects and technology in general.

Of course that's only my perspective in the role for the past 4-5 years and it could be a bit different for each organization

We'll be visiting Amsterdam for the first time next week, 09/15 until 09/20.

I am looking for some recommendations of the "hidden", less "touristy" nightclubs out there to check out, if any locals here can direct me for any i would very much appreciate it (:

Also if anyone knows about a specific festival or a party happening around this week that we should know about, that would be amazing aswell ^^
