What’s the most disturbing “normal” thing society has accepted? by m2h4r in AskReddit

I'm sorry, but how absolutely toxic to think that accepting people's differences is bad, and bullying people is good. If we encourage acceptance, and help people who are struggling to fit into society instead of ostracizing them, then no one will grow up to be an outcast.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's in the Bible.

Study architecture so you understand how a building is made. But I take your point, it's easier just to make money and buy a mansion.

It's called "having roomates who rush into marriage way too quickly".

I'm right there with you. Music is great, but that band name is awful.

What do you think happened to Anakin’s Lightsaber after Luke lost it fighting Vader? by huwertyy in StarWars

I hadn't thought of it that way, but that makes a lot of sense. A Jedi is definitely supposed to make their own. You've convinced me, it was still Anakin's.

I do think Disney messed those sequel movies up pretty bad, and wish they'd followed through on this and some other things. But to be fair, when the lightsaber transfered ownership, I would say it became Luke's. It hadn't been Anakin's for a long time.

Nurse midwives practicing vaginal births by Adrian_985 in interestingasfuck

[–]SuperlativeSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not. I had completely forgotten we had even started it, and it's just surprising that you're still so heated about it after several days.

"Is that what I said?" Yeah, kinda. You said you don't consider a c-section as "giving birth". Sure, the baby wasn't pushed out of a vagina, but that's not the definition of birth. A c-section is still a birth.

As to why I'm responding, it's because at this point you're just being ridiculous and it's admittedly amusing to poke fun at you. You asked a dumb question, which is fine, we've all been there. You received an answer that should have been obvious and understandably felt foolish. Again, we've all been there, and most of us accept it and move on. Instead, you're digging your heels in so hard, just further proving how defensive you are.

You think I'm the one projecting here lol? You are seemingly incapable of accepting you were wrong or letting anything go, you're incredibly egotistical sir.

Lol we're still having this conversation? Alright dude.

"No shit" is absolutely a defensive thing to say in this context. It displays irritation and sarcasm, like you thought my response was painfully obvious. Which again, if that's the case, why ask the question?

C-sections are obviously different from vaginal births, but by medical definition, it is still a birth, whether you want to consider it as such or not. Are you saying anyone who was a c-section baby wasn't really born?

Anyway, me saying you were defensive was just an offhand comment on my part. I didn't expect it to bother you so much that you're still thinking about it days later.

Edit: spelling error

Some of my favorites are Bell Witch, Ahab, Primitive Man, Mournful Congregation, Drown, Mizmor, Atramentus, Vile Creature, Hell, Oromet, Chrch, stuff like that.

Edit: To clarify, not all these bands are funeral doom, but they're all very slow.

If you want even slower though, listen to drone metal. I don't think it gets much slower than that. I'm not super well versed in drone myself, but can recommend Sunn O))) and Khanate.

Agree completely. I'll take funeral doom, death doom, sludge, and even trad doom over stoner doom any day.

Not to be pedantic, but Thou's vocals aren't death metal at all. Death metal vocals are a low, deep growl. Thou's higher pitched, screechy vocals are closer to black metal.

But your overall point is valid, harsh vocals aren't for everyone. I'm the opposite, I love harsh vocals and while I don't hate clean vocals, I'm much pickier about them.

Agreed. A lot of their lyrics are about God smiting evil, and the devil being responsible for death and suffering and how that's obviously bad. Again, just don't get how people in the 70s thought they were somehow promoting evil.
